  • Two ideas which might be no help at all but hey. I use half the recommended amount of detergent in the washing machine and also put in 1/4 of a cup of soda crystals to make it go further. They are 39p a bag so saves us about £10 a month on detergent.

Also, there was a thing on the freebies board a while ago, bview.co.uk they give you amazon vouchers for reviewing businesses. They give you £10 for 20 reviews, I did it and got £50 for 100 reviews. They are doing the promotion til the end of July, so might be worth a look. I know you cant buy food from amazon, lol but you can get a lot else. xx

    Hi Dalip :)

Your water is pretty high @ £40 per month for just yourself and Mr Dalip - is that on a meter? We pay £39 a month on a meter and that's for 4 of us (so washing machine on every day, 4 showers a day etc) and I'm quite a lot in credit with that and should be able to reduce our bill to around the £20 mark soon.

Your gas and electric are nice and low :D I'm jealous ;)

I'm sorry if that's not much help...... I can't see anywhere else you could trim your budget to be honest. Wishing you both lots of luck on the job hunting :D

    Hi scarlett
Thanks for that.No we are not on a water meter. When other daughter was home she had a bath every night and i had W/M on every day. Will look into a meter(SIL works for severn trent;) )but do you have to pay to have a meter installed?

The gas and elect won't be so low in the winter:eek:

Am taking this all in never fear

    Hi Dalip,

I'm sorry to hear you're having such a rough time;:eek: it seems so unfair. Our neighbour is an ex teacher, and he's been playing the invalidity / disability benefit game for the last 10 years with his wife running an undeclared business.

I can't really think of anything that hasn't already been suggested, well not without embarrassing myself.:o :o

I guess it's just a case of hanging on in there until something comes along.

Our house already had a meter when we moved in, but according to this no, you shouldn't have to pay to have one installed:

    http://www.uswitch.com/Water/What-Water-Meter.html :)

It *does* make you more aware (not leaving the tap running when you're cleaning your teeth etc) but I've certainly be pleasantly surprised at how much cheaper it's been.

I know it's only a little bit, but every little helps so they say :o
