Seems you need the car for your dad, so its got to stay.
CC idea made me chuckle.
I suppose the only option is tighten the belts until you can find employment. While your off work, how about having a good clearout and ebaying/bootsale unwanted items from the loft/sheds ect, just to give you a few quid extra??"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

We only use the car at the moment for wkly shop, but my father is quite ill(had to take him to hosp 2 this wk already) and being where we live there is no way i could get to him if he got taken ill. We have looked at selling the car.Not sure what to do.

Ring the hospital and hunt out their social services. If you are on benefits and transporting someone for a hospital appointment, you should be able to reclaim the costs from the hospital. Certainly when I used to lunch in one, there are loads of folk doing that a the reception office.
Then be ruthless and use the journey to do a shop as well.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Ras thanks.
At the min dad is ok for money so he gave us some petrol money and i am cleaning his house(he did have cleaners but he asked me to do it,not sure if he did it for me or him),although i hate taking it from him!!! as he has done so much for me in the past. When DH takes him shopping, we do ours and whilst they are out i clean the house.
We only put the gas on when we want water to wash up or have a bath.We don't buy branded stuff from the supermarket. Our food bill today was the best at £38 but no meat(freezer full, not meat but enough not to need some this wk)no veg except some leeks and new spuds. No treats so not sure how muc more we can cut back on things Gosh this i so hard.
Even had neighbour give us a mattress yesterday so at least we don't have spings up our bums anymore:D

With prices going up, ive got myself on the waiting list for an allotment, I rekon I could put a big dint in the food bill with a few ex battery hens and free veggies. It might be worth considering if you or hubby are green fingered, apparently once your on top of a plot you only need to spend 5-6hrs a week to keep it all ship shape."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. Good idea shadow but we have no allotments round here. OH is very green fingered and has grown beans and toms this year. We are knockin down the brick bbq and turning that into a veg patch ready for the winter veg so we are trying.DFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

Are you allowed to earn anything before your benefits are cut (like £5).
You may already know about the boost your income tab on the DFw forum and Eagerlearner's list of click and surveys? if not have a look at them. Some people get £20 per month, in vouchers but it is better than a kick in the teeth and except mystery shopping does not affect your benefits.,
Also, freecycle, freecycle freecycle for clothes, stuff for the house, electrical goods etc.
And there are some interesting threads and links on foraging on the greenfingered forum.
if you know any folk with fruit trees that are not picked, ask if you can pick them and split the proceeds? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Yes i have been told £10, hubby has been cutting all the neighbous lawns(petrol mower) for nothing but he is now going to start charging but its a very delicate subject when they are all pensioners:eek: .
Have joined freecycle after tigers advice.
Have to admit:o i only ever come on here so will look at the sites you have mentioned. ThankyouFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau
