yup its right im afraid, the law says you need xxx amount to live on per week etc etc etc. I get 95 IB per week, and so does my partner, and out of that we have to pay a significant amount of Rent and the full amount of CT. But we get DLA too, which ups our incomes by 100 quid each per month so that helps a bit, well my DLA covers the car, cos its for mobility issues so I spend it on that.

Well you saw our I and E and had 8 quid left each month!!!

Unfortunatly they dont factor in Driving a car or having a SKY tv suscription in benefit payments!!! your rent is pretty good though ours is 77 per week and we get a 10 pound from HB towards it. And have to pay 66 per month CT too.

    Thanks shadow:D

We don't have sky got rid of that before i went bc. We live in a village so the bus fare into town is £2.20 return so a car is needed but not essential i suppose. Our rent is £93 a wk but because we live in a 3 bed and our girls have left home i think we have to pay about £20 a wk towards it. As far as i know we get all our CT paid. Interview with job centre nxt wk.D

Im not judgeing you, its just how it is, the JSA is there to make sure you dont starve, it makes you live on the poverty line but thats how it is. I would also see about qualifying for Income Support as that can bolster up your benefits. I think you should hit the Old style board and see where you can cut back on shopping bills etc.

The only thing I can suggest is cancelling the car insurance and taking only the bus to town - would this be cheaper than paying £5 a week car insurance plus petrol?

I don't know your cirucmstance but hope one or both of you are able to find jobs soon.
Try the oldstyle board for stretching your money as far as possible.
Do you have any family that can help at all?
Also try freecycle for any essentials.
Freebies for dog food etc? and shampooo , washing powder etc, etc.

I am sure you will do it. It will be tough but I'm sure the people on here will get you through.

P.S I don't know you so not sure if this was a flipant comment or serious but please if you are feeling really bad go see your GP or phone the Samaritans.

Dancingfairy I was being tongue in cheek but sometimes the thought does cross my mind(when my shoulders start to get heavy) but i am too much of a coward to follow it through.

    I wish;)
I went bc last nov and have written to all DH creditors to try to get them to accept £1,we shall see.

We only use the car at the moment for wkly shop, but my father is quite ill(had to take him to hosp 2 this wk already) and being where we live there is no way i could get to him if he got taken ill. We have looked at selling the car.Not sure what to do.

Shadow i know you are not judging me,so dont worry on that score.
