is online v5 going up also.when the last round of rises was announced in jan by EDF my online v5 never went up.
even working on the rise % given in the press my fuel bill would still be around £70 cheaper than the best capped deal out there.0 -
Am just putting this in the post - I'm mad as hell!

After learning today of yet another massive price hike, despite a recent drop in the price of oil, of your charges for gas and electricity, I have just changed my supplier to Scottish Power.
They will of course be contacting you direct, but in the meantime I wish to draw your attention to paragraph 3 (2) as laid out in your terms and conditions.
Prices and/or Tariff Structures And Changes To Terms
1) ‘If this change is to your significant disadvantage (such as price increase)……..’
2) ‘If you do not wish to accept this change to your terms, you must advise us in writing….’
3) ‘You will also need to appoint an alternative supplier…..’
4) ‘We will not apply the change to our terms during the intervening period…….’
1) Most definitely to my disadvantage - 17% and 22% price hike!
2) I most certainly do not accept this change and am advising you of this in writing.
3) I’ve appointed Scottish Power.
4) Nope, quite clearly you can’t.

They don't do it...normally they raise the prices and you get the letter a few days later..it's a real pain...then it takes you 6 weeks to move so you're stuck with the price rise until you change supplier.
No that simply is not the case.
Read Premier's posts above.
If you wait until you get the official notice of the increase(this can be 3 months - 65 working days). You can then tell them you are going to leave and they have to peg the price at the pre-increase price until you leave.
The problem is that it is pretty certain that all the other companies will be increasing their price soon so you will be jumping from frying pan into fire.
Also if you wait the fixed/capped prices will probably be gone.0 -
E-On's website:
Ah that's alright then, they're improving the services they offer us.
Improving them by about 20% I'd say.....
And would you believe it all the call centre staffs computers were down too. I got them to make a note that I wanted to switch to a capped tariff and which one. Just phoned up now and it has been done. I was prepared for a battle there 'we don't seem to have any record of that and that tariff has been withdrawn'. but like I say it has been done. It seems as though the call centre computers are probably back up BUT I was on hold for about 30 minutes before I got to speak to a human (a very tired sounding one at that. me thinks they are a tad busy with switches!).0 -
I'm with E-on and swapped to their capped price tarriff this morning. Been umming and ahhing about it all day, but think it was probably the right move.Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

Just phoned EON after trying all afternoon on website which is still down. The staff there are only there till 8pm and they cant access the system either. They suggest you call back Monday (not saturday/sunday) - I said was this because the new prices would be up then and she said she couldnt comment.0

Oil prices are falling now
The prices are based upon the companies' forward positions, i.e. the prices they have bought fuel at for the future. They've basically been having to buy on the wholesale markets at a high price for the last few months. Now prices are falling, you might see reductions in the future - or more likely price freezes.Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

OK here are is my new v old price comparison on online v5.1 east midlands (all prices are ex VAT).
Electric Band A - 10.48 (was 9.43) increase of 11.1%
Electric Band B - 7.45 (was 5.68) increase of 31.1%
Gas Band A - 5.571 (was 3.406) increase of 63.6%
Gas Band B - 3.056 (was 2.359) increase of 29.5%
Based on my annual usage my electric will cost £24 more a year and gas £135 more a year, a total of £159.
These prices are still less than if I switch to a capped tarrif!Cashback earned
