summer holiday makeover challenge!

Just realised I'm a house !!!!!!. I don't think I've vacuumed under and behind cupboards in the bedroom for years - doesn't dust smell! This is definitely time to turn over a new leaf. I'm just off to put more washing on and then back to finish the bedroom. I've got far too many toiletries / makeup and have made a mental note to not buy any more unless I'm sure I don't already have any. My treat at the end of today will be to pamper myself with some of them, but only if I've completely finished the bedroom, ebayed some of my [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] precious items and cleaned the kitchen.
Don't think I'll get as far as the garage declutter today though.0 -
Well, the bedside tables are polished and relatively clear now, so that's the three pre-lunch tasks done! This afternoon I need to walk into town to get DH an anniversary card (38 years tomorrow!) and I also need to walk our two boisterous collies. I'm also going to find 10 books I could bear to part with (that could take ages!), find a pattern for a nightdress and go through all my cc paperwork in the desk.
Can't believe I've just written that lot down. Could be a late night then!Resolution:

Well I had a lovely walk with child and dog.. not! lol
He wanted to take his bike with him and I let him.. trying to control a 3 year old on wheels and a mad dalmatian puppy is not easy! That wasn't even the fun bit, the fun bit came when I tried to cross a road holding onto dog and child and bike and the sole on my trainer came away! I felt every single stone on the way home! lol
Now I'm so tired yet the ironing mountain is still there... lolStarting my DMP Journey.0 -
Congrats on the anniversary tomorrow beemuzed.
Must say, I'm quite enjoying the cleaning for once. Probably because I've got time to do it properly for a change. I'm saving the dog walking until tea time when hubby is home and we can go for a good walk together.
Bexbex and Howskint I really sympathise with you. When my kids were young I found it almost impossible to keep on top of the housework - something I'm only just starting to get to grips with again (youngest is 17).
Keep it up girls - I'm sure we'll all get there in the end0 -
Beemuzed, can I join in please? My OH moves in, in about a month's time so 6 weeks is perfect (and I need a kick up the backside). I have a box room I can't get into for boxes! These are stuff from previous moves of mine and I need to sort out wardrobes in the kids rooms too. I'd like the majority done before they move in and the rest can be done after they move in.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. unixgirluk, my box room is the same.. you can open the door but that's it! lol We live in a house with a flat roof so everything which has no home goes in there... A lot of Thomas's clothes he has outgrown are in there waiting to be ebayed... There's just so much in there it fills me with dread thinking about it!! lol
I need to empty it! It will be done! lol
I'll see it all empty though and end up thinkging "aww, a baby could go in here" haha maybe that's why I'm putting it off tidying it!Starting my DMP Journey.0 -
Bex, in our case that will hopefully be the baby's room (trying after the wedding next year, though dottery old gp told me I was ancient to be a first time Mum, I'm 32!)
I'll post my progress as I go. I might be offline for a few day, got family over.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Bexbex - ouch! That was some walk! I've walked our dogs, but boy was it warm! Am now trying to persuade myself that walking into town is far better than taking the car...
Welcome Unixgirluk - the more the merrier!
I've sorted out 11 books - and caught myself trying to replace one as I'd only planned to find 10...no!!!! I need to get a shift on and set off with them to drop off on way to get the card, or they'll all end up back on the shelves!Resolution:

I've just popped in to wish you all lots of luck in your challenge, I say every year that I will sort everything out during the long holiday, but I never seem to manage it.
Hugs Hester

Thanks Hester - like you I say it every year - but this is the last chance I'll get to acually do anything about it!
Anyhow, the only thing left on my list is the credit card paperwork...which I'll get to in a minute.
Tomorrow we may go out for the day - but that's ok too!Resolution:
