  • I am so proud of myself. Today, I was in town alone spending the money I received for my birthday, and it was lunchtime so I went and bought a book from waterstones (dfm because I had a voucher) and then went to costa coffee ALONE, had a sandwich and a hot chocolate and started reading the book :j

I must admit it didn't feel strange at all and ended up people watching rather than reading the book

Also good is the fact that I have my second date with 'tall and interesting' next saturday evening :T

What's bad is that I majorly fell of the diet wagon today. Ate lots of chocolate (which I try and stay away from) and crisps and drank 2 glasses of wine :o I am off to the gym tomorrow though, so might undo some of the bad

    Anyway, that's my update...

Marleyboy, can you clear your pm's please? I am trying to message you but you're obviously so popular your inbox is full :D

Ok, I have had a very severe talk with myself over the last few days and things have got to change, as I cant cope with being worried/stressed/panicked all the time. I have to stop and I will. I have a few things that need sorting out, and so I will sort them. Something I have realised is that I am not good at big steps but I am good at small ones. So, this will have to be tackled in small steps. I have to stop thinking a man will come along to rescue me. I am going to rescue myself.

Firstly, I have debts which are not too severe, but they have been, and they are still here. So, I am going to join one of the challenge threads. That way I can post "I have saved £1 here, £2 there," without feeling silly, and those small amounts will all add up if i keep a track of them.

I have to do something about the way I look, as I am not feeling very attractive at the moment, and that is impacting on my mood. I am overweight, not hugely, but noticably. I am going to aim for 1lb a week, rather than the stone in a month I usually aim for. 1lb is something I can achieve, and anything over that will be a nice surprise. I am going to start wearing some of the expensive stockpile of make up I have. I am going to drink more water and look after my skin.

So, my challenges for this week are:

    1. to lose 1lb
    2. to drink 1.5 litres of water a day.
    3. to join a challenge thread
    4. to wear at least one item of make up per day.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend xxx

  • Sarah, can I recommend the payment a day challenge? ehallet set it up and it is SO motivational. I just pay £1 a day to my CC and it feels fantastic to see the total starting to creep downwards. :j

Hi, i like the sound of that, i am aiming to get one of my credit cards to 0 by xmas, so that would help in bringing it down.

Sarah - also being having some down days recently - mine has been wanting to get my own place... it feels so far away (I flat share with 2 others). Just feel stuck in a rut :(

I did get motivated today and add some books for sale online, might try ebaying tonight.

As for challenges - i havent been very good at them.....

i was going to close my M&S cc down but have been thinking that perhaps i should reduce the limit to £500 and use that to do my main shopping during the month and pay it off at payday and collect the points........ I am using a CC here and there which offers nothing back.....

I have joined the Olympic Challenge thread, I would like to do the pay a debt each day one, but unfortunately all my debts are loans so I cannot overpay them, what I am hoping to do is fill up my Isa for this year, and then set any more I have saved aside until it matches the outstanding amount on a loan, and then pay that off. I won £10 on the lottery last night, so only £998 to go!

Have just been out and bought a book and sat in the bookshop cafe for a couple of hours, not very DFW, but was a nice treat, and improved a very boring Sunday. I hate Sundays! I think I need to start taking my own books to read instead of buying one each time or it could start to be a very expensive habit!

You could also find other places to read :) Take a book you already own and a drink, maybe sit in a park somewhere? I walked past a park on my way to the supermarket this morning and I wished I'd brought my book so I could have read for a while.

Sounds like we are a right bunch of bookworms! Don't forget the library. (I finally have a decent one in this town so am thinking of popping over there next weekend. If I walk into town and back that's free exercise and half the bus fare I save will cover the coffee, the rest can go on CC payment a day - how DFW is that!)

Very well said...:T :T :grouphug: ... following your excellent example, here are mine (sticking with the one single, one DFW model):
    1. Organise getting double sofabed/ futon for spare room. (Three of my closest friends here are currently away long term - bad timing! If I can invite my long-distance friends in couples to both stay they are more likely to come than if only one came or they had to get back home the same day, so I will get out more here and hopefully meet more people).
    2. I will actually USE that Pilates DVD which has been on my bookcase for months :o .
    3. I will find out what happens with the gap insurance if I move my car loan to a cheaper one (actually moving it can be another week's challenge).
hear hear marleyboy biut you know the gremlins always come out in those teeny moments of doubt ant the 'am i good enuf?' question. it's what i call being rationally irrational...

Exactly... was musing on this for most of 6 hour drive yesterday and still don't have any answers! (except those marleyboy clones ;):D )

Hope everyone had a great weekend
