Ok, my update:
Had friends down from Bristol and Worcester at the weekend so ate loads and put on 2lb  Not that I care TOO much - it was a fantastic weekend.
So I felt bad and decided to join my local running club. Went for the first session today. Was lapped on the track over and over again but got quite a bit of running in and feel better about myself
AND tomorrow night I have a date.
So wish me luck and I'll let you all know how it goes if you're interested.

Met him on datingdirect - it's a good site but not free to read and send messages so wouldn't recommend it on MSE! Plenty of fish was fairly successful for me. I managed a 5 month relationship from someone on there once but he was another 'nice but boring'.
God, i sound like a serial dater! I'm not. My last relationship ended in January and I hadn't dated anyone else until the week before last. But I finally feel ready to get out there and meet new people! It's quite liberating and you get less and less nervous the more people you meet.LBM February 2008. Hi
and welcome. You are certainly well on the way to managing your money if know about this website.
Martin's money had been a great help to me, full of lots of money saving tips. I found the demotivator great, it is a shock to realise how much you spend on coffees out and magazines and other stuff that you can easily live without.
Also, try making a list of EVERYTHING you spend. I find that helps.
Being single is not always bad. I know someone who's partner ran up huge credit card debt and then hid the bills, unopened!!

Hi
I'm another serial lurker and relative newbie to the forums. Glad to hear I'm not the only Bridget Jones out there!
My ex left me in debt and I had to sell the house to pay off him ( yes, unbelievable!!!) and the debts. However, I managed to get back on the property ladder last year :j , after moving back in with my folks for 3 years and although promised myself never to get into debt again have managed to rack up a loan (to buy furniture etc) and also a small credit card debt. However, I feel in control and I'm doing my best to get it all paid off quickly.
My friend has suggested to me that I should ask every person I know to set me up on a date with another single person they know. That way I should meet normal (!) people and not random weirdos (as it is well known that I have a weirdo magnet  )..........that's the theory anyway. I'm just coming around to the idea so we'll see what happens.Never look down on anybody unless you are helping them up.0 -
Another late joiner here, It's taken me ages to go through all those pages!!
I am 30, of the girlie variety, live in herts and am single. I do not enjoy being single but am keeping myself very busy with Running club(met 2 great friends (girls) there), same friends let me use their guest passes for their gyms, I help one of them out with cooking for cash in hand sometimes and the rest of my time is spent horse riding and working. Chaps on here, Horse riding forums, and places in real life are full of single women so I recommend learning to ride (once you are debt free of course!) or starting equine photography if you are struggling to meet single women at all!!
The trouble I have is I am a Client Relationship Manager and have no problems being lively and confident with clients at events and during meetings but introduce me to a chap face to face out of a work context and I stutter, blush and trip up:o Many people who know me at work would be really surprised to know how shy I actually am!
I am taking steps to try and make myself feel more confident and have just been to the dentist for the first time in 7 years (horribly phobic!) to try and get my bunny (sticky out) teeth sorted as I am ashamed to smile at the mo!
Glad to see that there are many of us in the same boat, am loving the challenge idea too, just got to think of some now:beer:0 -
