Well I did it! Went to Starbucks, it was in a bookshop, so bought 3 books first, £19.97 (not very DFW, am addicted to books!), then another £5 on coffee and cake (am addicted to coffee and cake as well). ... Went in to Next and saw 2 lovely pairs of shoes, £45 each, but managed to walk away. They are still calling me though. I think I need them!

I know the book problem - but honestly, avoid the shoes! £90 is quite lot of money.....

Am also thinking of going on holiday solo as none of my friends seem to like the same hols destinations as me

I'm sure you'll love it. I did quite a lot of travelling on my own when I was working in Poland (also quite a lot with my best mate, who was working in the Czech Republic) and it's a great feeling. Where are you thinking of going?

Last night I completed the challange of going out by myself, I felt a right charly on my todds, surrounded by couples, I couldnt wait to get out, never again.....but I did 1 challange ;)

Difficult when you are on your own. just going out and seeing couples and groups having fun can just make it worse!! you can get out of that of that hole not by going out but by going somewhere to do something. Join a gym if you afford it! or go to an evening class or even go to citizens advice to talk about debts if you have any. any excuse to go out and go somewhere to do something.

I think you hit the nail on the head there, when I go out on my own with or without the kids it is seeing couples with their kids that makes me feel down. Everyone always looks happier and the grass is always greener :(.......but anyhow, can only get easier I hope.
Well done Marleyboy and mupeteer for doing the challenge! :T

I can't do the drink thing as no babysitters but trying out the local gym on Tues if I don't chicken out lol. :j

Thats my problem, it was like that las night, everyone happy couples, I looked out of place there, I certainly didnt "fit in" and your right, it just makes me more depressed rubbing my own nose into my loneliness. ;)

  • that's why the solo thing should be done during the day when you feel less like a dipstick. not doing anything today need to have a no spend day.

I don't think I could do a friday night alone - Marleyboy you were very brave!
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Agreed it would have been better during the day, I did go straight from work. Its difficult to go during the day as I am working, maybe a sunday afternoon or saturday, a nice sunny day at a pub by the river. It would still be busy but not as busy, and more family orientated.

I dont know what my other challanges are, I know there were 3, I tink ive done 2 now.

I think one is make a "connection" marleyboy, I have been a flirtin with someone on facebook not that it's going anywhere but still fun.
I don't fancy going to the pub alone - it's more something I would do with friends having a drink and a chat otherwise I think I'd look a sad alky... and probably drink more than usual cos the chatting doesn't get in the way.
I've been to the gym today too but I prefer to do that alone anyway!
