Am really pleased that everyone is embracing the 'go for a drink alone' thing- and Sarahb, of course Starbucks counts for starters...stretch the comfort zone slowly!

I do bars, cinema, theatre, concerts, restaurants, daytrips and even European weekends away on my own....twice in the last year! And a long haul trip too for 7 days...

Not that I am some crazed loner in a big black trench coat, I just figure that if none of my mates want to come to something I really want to go to, if I don't go on my own I miss out! (And even if there was a partner in the picture, I am not sure I would inflict Glen Campbell concerts on him!)

It's not about 'sit in a bar on my own and wait for advances' either...or looking appealing to other people...it's about doing what you want to do... And if it increases your confidence that can only be a good thing surely?!

    Hi there
your post has really inspired me... After years of not doing things "on my own" have finally gathered my confidence together and started going out solo. Okay so this is not major things (recently bought cinema unlimited pass figured as it was pitch dark no one would see me anyhow :rotfl: ) but they are positive moves forward. Am also thinking of going on holiday solo as none of my friends seem to like the same hols destinations as me :o .

Oh must add hol will not be for a while yet as debts not paid off till next year

Right off to read rest of thread and plan trip to coffee shop as suggested here, as going to a bar is still a bit too much for me yet (sorry can't remember who suggested this sorry)

:T My views entirely (at least, until my debts got too large  )

Is it only 30 somethings in this place or is there room for a mid-40 something?:D

I don't think this is a thread which discriminates by age - anyone over the age of consent or MSE joining age welcome!
