  • Definitely go - nothing ventured nothing gained! Pub sounds like a good idea - will look forward to hearing your pool tips afterwards ;)

Has anyone been for their solo drink yet this week?? I am thinking about going tonight on my way home from work - once I've accepted a challenge I have to see it through!

Haven't done the solo drink thing, however I have signed up to go to the Swansea Meet on August 30th on the plentyoffish forums

He suggested coming to mine with a dvd. Do you think that means he's an axe murderer?

I reckon it'll be the pub. Says he can teach me to play pool (he has NO idea how bad I am) and at least its public.

I'm mortified at the thought of telling family and friends I'm meeting him after using that site so I may need to use you lot as my security blanket... if I don't post by a certain time call the police and tell them mupet is mia!

Definitely don't go for the coming around to your place thing, happy for people to know the area I live in but will take a good while for anyone to know my actual address .. besides the fact I need to do some serious decluttering ;)

Something amused me last night, remember I mentioned I keep getting matched with my neighbour, well I sent him a message to ask about Bluetooth (as I keep getting linked to his PC and I want to DL a fab pic I have on my phone) ... next minute there is a knock on my door and he is standing there with a blue tooth adapter and install discs for me (bless the poor guy has only seen me in my scruffs out back hanging out washing and this time I was in middle of dinner with my hair all over place!!) :rotfl:
  • Sounds like your neighbour might be keen! Any potential there at all - just think how convenient it would be! ;)

Hi all, was thinking about the having a drink by yourself challenge, I just do not dare go in a pub or bar by myself! Is going to a Starbucks okay or is that cheating? I could manage that, but would have to take a book to read so I don't feel embarrassed.

Starbucks is a nice safe and relaxing place to meet, its a perfect way to get to know one another iin a peaceful environment. Theres nothing worse than trying to shout over loud music, when trying to get to know someone.

  • A nice coffee and a good book, sitting outside Starbucks in the sun sounds lovely Sarahb123, go for it! And I bet that anyone walking past will be jealous of you having a such a relaxing and nourishing time. I know I would!
  • Oh also Sarahb123, of couse Starbucks is OK. I think that it's all about baby steps; stretching our comfort zones slowly and getting used to it rather than smashing out of them in one go.

For example, I never used to go to the cinema on my own as I used to think that eveyone would see me as a saddo-stood-up-dolly-no-mates but then I was missing out on all the films I wanted to see. So I started going to quiet matinee showings, then built up to evenings during the week, then Sundays etc and I don't even think about it anymore (plus a friend pointed out that it was hugely arrogant to assume that the other patrons of the cinema would prefer to sit looking and talking about me rather than watching the film they've paid to watch!). I've still not braved the Sat/Fri night "couple" showings, that, at the moment is my "no go zone" but y'know, baby steps.....

I havent braved the "go out alone" stage, I think its harder for blokes , because it makes me look somehow inferior
