No fighting now ladies, you'll all get your turn ;P

Oh and the bike thing is even better than walking because it seems a lot easier at the time but burns more calories... It's also a non-impact exercise so it doesn't damage your joints... I'm planning on getting a mountain bike when I move down to Tahmoor so I can pootle down to the shops (8-9km)

Sarah - it's absolutely true about the exercise ; I used to cycle 7 miles a day to work & back, ate the same diet as all the guys ( Cheese & bacon sarnies, donuts etc) never put on any weight & had fab toned muscles too ....

I must get a new front tire for my bike, think SusSu doing her own exercise regime now ;)

I would love to have a bike, but sadly nowhere to keep one. I know you are both right about the exercise, I just can't stick to a regime, am too disorganised, but am quite good in sharp bursts, so I will hopefully be able to make a good start next week. I think I will move things over to my wardrobe as and when I fit into them, as an incentive, so shall spend the weekend making space. Also need to find storage for 6 pairs of shoes:o

Think you're right about SuSu, has gone awfully quiet over there;)

I thought non impact exercise was not the best exercise for women because you need to have impact to protect against osteoporosis (sp), or am I getting mixed up?

It is true that weight-bearing excercise is important to strenghten bones but vigorous excercise can sometimes cause problems. For example I have a problem with arthritis in my big toes and this means swimming, cycling etc is better for me than running.

I think in reality a mixture of different kinds of exercise is the best as you work different sets of muscles and of course any exercise is better than none!

45 mins is quite a long walk and sounds like really good exercise.

I have a bike and ride to work but it only takes 10 mins so not the best! and certainly not enough to negate the bars of chocolate I've taken to eating!!!

Although good for me to to work close to home!!!

I do ride my bike to meetings and things so somedays get more exercise.
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)
