I know I know, you are all soooo right. Lula - I completely agree with you! I think one of the reasons I was so cross about the whole thing is that I really don't believe in going back, onwards and upwards and all that!
I think I just got seduced by the idea of not having to go through the hassle of getting to know someone else and the familiarity etc I also seem to have that ridiculous idea in my head that he had changed...... I remember when I started seeing him, one of my friends at work (who is in her 60s) said to me, 'you can't change a man...I've been married for 37 years and the things that annoyed me about my husband before we married are still the same things that annoy me about him! :rotfl:
He is one of my best friends friends and he is going on My Single Friend and she is writing his profile...he's some kind of schedule that he wants to get married and have kids in 2yrs....
Well I need to seriously get on with my decluttering before my room explodes and I get crushed under a pile of Vogues....I think I could end up being one of those reclusive old ladies whose house has burned down in a fire because she has stacks and stacks of papers throughout....in my case would be Vogue, Elle and other random magazines... thank goodness I don't have a cat or I would be a walking talking cliche!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Hey Mags
Great news!!! I bet you feel really chuffed with yourself - as you should! :j
It is just sooo painful to get what you are entitled to sometimes.
I had to claim statutory sick pay once on a casual job I was doing. They didn't want to give it to me and it worked out to be about £120 but in the end it was the principle, took nearly 6 months but got there in the end.
So I can totally sympathise spending ages on the phone to every Tom !!!!!! and Harry having to explain yourself a million times over!
Have a fab weekend!I've got my own flat :j:j

Thanks Lula-hula for your reply. You are right, I could cut my food bill right down. It's a bit difficult because the lovely person I share with (as far as I know) has no real money worries and although isn't extravagant at all - she likes a bargain as much as the rest of us - isn't having to watch money as much as me.
I'm toying with the idea of maybe telling her a bit about my money situation so that she understands why I am being stricter with my cash - or I might just suggest taking over the cooking & shopping a bit more under the guise of losing pounds and being more organised etc......
I'm just so embarrassed to tell anyone in my 'real' life; I couldn't bear anyone to be disappointed in me as much as I already am
Added to that, I got a bl***y parking ticket this morning. So that's £35 gone down the toilet!!! I thought I was in a 2hr space!!!
If anyone works out how to clone that 30-something man without baggage - could I have one too please?;)Proud to be dealing with my debts

That is a good idea, one of the benefits of cooking from scratch is that you know exactly what is going into your food (as well as being cheaper) so you could easily sell that as an idea rather than saving money.
I think you would be surprised if you did speak to other people that you aren't the only one in this situation. Don't feel you have to tell other people though, it is really up to you....but don't get caught in the trap of keeping up with other people and spending a fortune when you don't want to.
 for the parking ticket!!!!

hi you dont have to tell anyone of your situation but i have told two of my friends and a work colleague as i feel if i had no-one to talk to then id never ever sleep id be awake 24 hours a day worrying. my friends are supportive and no if i cant make anything not to push me into saying yes
im ashamed of the situation im in but im trying my hardest like everyone else to get out of it:mad: sometimes my debt panics me..... EVEN after 4 years or so.

Hi all! :hello:
SuSu here (still masquerading as HeWhoDares). Re the whole "tell your friends/don't tell your friends"... I'm very open about so-called taboo subjects, so when it came to talking about my debt, I told my my friends, my family and my colleagues about it because I was proud of what I was doing to clear my debts.
I'd set myself some pretty steep challenges (in the first year I cleared £1,000 a month ) and found it easier to stay on track if everyone in my life knew what changes I was making and why. A few of them asked how I'd managed to get in such debt (about £27,000) and I told them the truth - 10 years of over-spending every month. Nobody judged me and everyone was really supportive, and they still ask me for updates on my "master plan"
However, I know this wouldn't work for everyone, but what I would say is while you don't need to tell everyone, you should tell someone you can trust. It really does release the pressure. I used to lose a LOT of sleep about this, but now daydream about how I'm going to furnish my house! I won't be in a position to buy a house for a good 4 years yet, but I've redesigned my kitchen several times :rotfl:
'kay, gonna go now - it's bathtime for the nephews :A Catch up with y'all later0
