Good idea about the underbed boxes, I've run out of space in my wardrobe, and I have some really chunky jumpers, where did you get yours?

Argos I think - wood and canvas ones with wheels on. Much easier than dragging things!

I'm going to look at underbed storage boxes this weekend, but have started a new spend and save diary so if it's out of my budget it will have to wait can't believe i said that, I will save for a new car this year if it kills me.

Mags is going to bite the bullett and go and get another bank account

hopefully it will be straight forward and im not agreeing to anything they will accept my case of a basic account.

    :D
 sometimes my debt panics me..... EVEN after 4 years or so.

I will be free in less than three years with a trust deed - my only option as debt management was taking too long :(

    Good for you :D ,

I recommend the co op cashminder - staff are brilliant & I'd set up all my direct debits & standing orders before any money went in. Online banking is great.

I have an appointment tomorrow with Loyds TSB. I spoke with the manager about transferring all the direct debits over and she said there is a system that they can access to do this and she is sure i dont have to notify any of the companies as it will automatically get done

all i need is council tax bill which i have and my passport which my friend as but iv text her to say i need to come and get it before tomorrow :D

Well it looks like my only solution is to withdraw £250 from my australian account (assuming I have that much in there!) using my VISA card and pay it to the halifax. They will then reduce my overdraft by £250 and it'll be safe for 12months so I don't have to worry about it.
I've phoned orange and they're going to freeze my account for 6 months from the 17th January meaning I don't have to magically find the money for the bills for a phone I can't use in Oz!
I've also cancelled a standing order for £7 which has been coming out of my account unnoticed by me for at least 4 months!
Now I'm considering making a transfer of money from Oz to my Halifax account to keep them off my back... unfortunately I get paid sod-all as it is so will be even more skint in Oz :(

TDQO, can't you do some kind of charges reclaim with Halifax? Did they even get in touch with you to let you know you've been overdrawn? It sucks if you have to spend all your money on charges.

I know it's not very comforting, but if you can't reclaim charges then I guess you'll have to write this off as a learning experience. At least you'll keep a closer eye on your accounts from now so it won't happen again. Maybe you should register for online banking?

When do you go back to Oz? I suppose the good thing is that you can avoid buying food for a while by gatecrashing beach parties/barbies. Just say you're a mate of Bruce or Sheila :p

Hope all's well otherwise, and I hope this hasn't taken the shine off your visit home so far. Think of all the birds you've pulled!! :rotfl:

Okay, so it's day three of the roasted chicken and veg fest and, well, I'm sick of it already! Not the chicken, just the potatoes (I've done mashed, roasted and seasoned oven chips). Only one more day to go - thank gawd for that! I feel a bit bleurgh at the thought of it!

On the plus side, though, I haven't spent any more money on food this week and I've got enough potatoes and veg to last another week. Need to get creative with my cooking ideas

    How y'all doing today?

    Hello y'all

Good luck with the basic bank account Mags, first step and all that.

I love Roast Chicken, Susu, and agree really good value to get a whole chicken and eat for days on end although totally hear you with the repetitiveness of it all. I once got a ton of beetroot in my veg box and made beetroot soup -after 3 days of it I could take it any more...sooooo boring!

I've got a bit of a dilemma, sort of, I stayed in touch with an ex (long and complicated story) and we see each other every so often and call and text occasionally. I was really hung up on him at the time and it took ages to get over him but now we get on well and I'm fond of him and we actually have a good relationship now we're not together. However recently his texts have been more .....affectionate?? flirty?? complimentary (can't think of right word) and today he texted that we should meet up soon as he has a present for me...which is really strange as we never did gifts in the relationship - he isn't really into possessions and just gave money to his kids for Christmas / Birthdays etc. He also really hates shopping!

I'm just really thrown by the whole thing and not sure what do ... if anything...

I'm glad I have this space to type this - my friends would be cross with me over this and wouldn't understand. I like the opportunity to vent!

Hope you are all having wonderful Tuesdays!
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

    Hiya makeup

Well, for what it's worth, I reckon you should meet up with your ex and find out what your present is! It's not like he's got in touch out of the blue or anything, you've already got a good relationship, so why not?

I don't know what you want from your relationship, but presuming you want it to move on (or back) to the next level, ask yourself these two questions:

1 - What's the worst that can happen? His gift turns out to be a recipe book for 1,000 things to do with beetroot?! :rotfl:

2 - What's the best thing that can happen? His gift turns out to be nothing material, but a declaration of his undying love for you. :happyhear

How do you feel about each of those scenarios? What do you want to happen? How would you feel if you get it? How would you feel if you didn't? More importantly, are you prepared never to see him/be in touch with him again because you're frightened of what he wants?

Sorry, bit rambly, but I'm full of painkillers and hot chocolate (no solid choc till debt free :p ) and it's a lethal combination!
