My trip to the coast didn't go well, but I'm looking on the positive side and I think it's cos I didn't give him the impression it was anything different from 2 old friends going out for the day, so that is something i have to work on, tbh I realised a while back I do that, but not quite sure how to put that right,.
And really bid hugs to everyone who's had a carp time, we have to keep upbeat in the NY it'll soon be spring cos I'm totally peed off with the cold now

Anything I can do to help?

i did try as my dmp told me to get my salary into another account when i signed up 2 years ago this coming feb. So off i went to the three other banks we have (i live on a island in scotland so we only have 4 banks) i asked for a basic account no over draft and no cheque book they would not listen to me i was tearing my hair out. Eventually went to Royal bank they were sounding good till they told me i wouldnt be getting a debit card  I asked why and they said its policy.

Hi Mags, did you go through a formal application or just go into the branches & speak to someone? If so you might have better luck applying online. I never even bother with branch staff any more TBH. They're only there to sell things that will make a profit for the branch.

If that's not an option did you try the post office? They do a basic account that has a debit card IIRC.

    Hi there

I went into the branches but as you said i was too busy being sold other things i felt they were not listening to me. I was asked for three months bank statements which i provided and no one apart from royal bank actually looked at them. at one point i was even trying to be coaxed into a mortgage  i just wanted to cry as i all i wanted was a basic account

Im off till thursday so im going to give it a try online or go the post office.
 sometimes my debt panics me..... EVEN after 4 years or so.

I will be free in less than three years with a trust deed - my only option as debt management was taking too long :(

SBC I've Pm'd you hope it's ok, i need help, but a bit of a story last night when I was on my way home , two of my neighbours where standing chatting on the street, one of them i thought pretended to throw something at me, what I didn't know till this morning was he'd been jumped by 4 lads outside the pizza place, apparently they followed him home so he went to get one of the neighbours, I pull on to the street he thought I was them and was going to throw a brick at me, if my brothers friend hadn't been there I could have had an accident, I thought they were mucking about.

Evening all, just popping in for company in between writing sections of an essay I was meant to have done 2 weeks ago!

    Hello Eriberri, welcome :hello:

    Susu, hope you're feeling better.

Mags, hugs :grouphug: and good luck with sorting out your a/c. I think SBC is right, sometimes online is less frustrating because at least then it has to be by the rules rather than detoured by staff trying to be helpful!

Eco - at your story, is your neighbour OK? And I'm sure you'll find a way to move things on with your date if you spend a bit more time together.

    SBC...
Curvy is much sexier than skinny. I doubt I'd even notice a woman under a size 12
In fact most if not all of the blokes I know think stick insect women are unattractive.
Hurrah, I'll start on that second box of chocs then... :D

    Why?

if it's true and most lads prefer women to be 12+, why the hell do we all waste so much time on exercise and diets, may as well save the energy for more important stuff.

I agree with this. About a year ago I went down from a good size 12/14 to a size 10. And everyone I know said I looked too skinny. Now I'm back up to a 12 and, for the first time in my whole life, I am genuinely happy with my body. I'm not even trying to lose weight, although I am trying to learn how to cook.

Plus I know when I see someone who's too thin, I think it looks much worse than someone who's overweight.

Without meaning to start a major political debate... I think the pressure on 'how women should look' is often more to do with being approved of by other women than about what men like.

I'm not sure there is an ideal weight except for each person in their own body. Some people are built skinny, some curvy, and I think people tend to look best around the 'natural' weight for them.

I weighed myself this morning to find out my starting weight for my diet and to my horror I am my highest weight ever:eek: I knew it was bad when I tried on a new skirt and it looked like I was hiding a football but I didn't think it would be that high. That will teach me to spend 2 weeks lying in bed and only eating rich food. Oh well, the only way is up (or should that be down). Will amend my sig to do it in stages as 40lb just looks too high a target all at once.

Edit: Rosa, I agree a lot of it is to do with other women and their approval rather than men's. It's ridiculous really!
