Hi Sarah and welcome back! Sounds like you've had a terrible time of it recently. Have one of these :grouphug:

I'm a bit grumpy today - having been away from my own bed for nearly 3 weeks and being denied a lie-in by either cats or nephews, I was SO looking forward to going to bed last night. All was well till I woke up in the early hours to be sick. Ended up staying in bed till 2.30pm, missed my cheap theatre trip this afternoon (£10 tickets) and had to drag myself off to do some food shopping cos I had NOTHING in.

AND...half the freeview tv channels have disappeared and there's nothing good on telly tonight. Sorry for going on, but I just feel a bit rubbish today. Mind you, on the upside, perhaps my loss of appetite will actually lead to a tiny amount of weight loss!! :rotfl:
£27k (excluding interest) paid off in 29 months
    Finally debt free!

 poor you sarah how frustrating

i have been missing for past few days been feeling rotten not sure if im in for this cold or not but wish whatever it is would come to a head.

Well I like the postman today as i didnt get any post :D but no doubt will have something from halifax on monday

I woke up yesterday morning screaming as i dreamt they took the money they want on the default out my account    it took me about 15mins to calm myself down and then i didnt go back to sleep cos im too scared they have and im too scared to look.

I tell ya if anything if this doesnt kill me it will make me stronger.

i dont mind dentists but i was scared of the root canal and after i paid for it 2 months later i went back complaining of an ache in the tooth and the horrid receptionist laughed and said you cant have pain and i said trust me i have. arrived at dentist he saw me and he pulled the tooth out with his hand he said it would of just fallen out. shouldnt of had root treatment said the tooth should of came out. tried to reclaim part of the £90 back but said no cos i paid it up
 sometimes my debt panics me..... EVEN after 4 years or so.

I will be free in less than three years with a trust deed - my only option as debt management was taking too long :(

Hi Sarah - we all thought you'd got lost in a sale somewhere (somewhat like father Ted and several priests in the lingerie section :p ). Sorry things have been a bit crap and hope that a rotten start to the new year means the rest of the year is going to be great for you.

I know what you mean re weight and figure! When I was a size 10 ( sooooo long ago ), I was 11 stone! No mean feat that given that I'm 11 and a half but a 14 now  I was doing loads of gym work back then, as well as running and was - being completely boastful here - in cracking shape! I'd rather be fit than have the scales tell me something which is largely irrelevant. Still, I'm going for my first run of the new year tomorrow. It's only going to be for about 15 mins or so, but I'm hoping I can recapture my love of running. I'll probably be back at the gym too before the end of the month (hassle with fees which I need to put right ) and once that's done, there will be no stopping me! Hopefully in a fortnight or so, the resolution gym goers will be gone and it will have calmed down a bit in there.

My loft is full of size 12 clothes which I would love to get back into. I'm sure it's only a stone or so away, and if I really set my mind to it, that could be as little as 3 months away. 3 months of running, gym and being sensible with food. All I need is the motivation and a few weeks without people knocking my confidence (easier said than done when you go out for your first few runs and get grief from local chavs and things!). The bloody annoying thing, is my size12 stuff is great quality stuff - partly the reason I'm in debt too :o
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

Hi mags, try not to worry too much, I know it's hard but we have all had days like that when we finally realise how much is owing, we got through them and so will you. You know you are doing something about it now and soon you will be in a much stronger position. Have you posted an SOA on the main board, those people will have you sorted in no time. It is difficult, especially at the beginning, but it can be done. Don't be too scared to look, if you do at least you will know what you are dealing with, and it can be dealt with. Have you opened an account with another bank so the Halifax can't touch your salary? At least that may help with one worry.

    RAAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!

Just opened all the mail that my mum didn't send me when I was in Oz to find that the £350 I left in my Halifax account has evaporated thanks to 4 bank charges(!!!) and a £7 standing order that I didn't know existed!! To top it off I also got a letter saying that my £1500 overdraft has to be repaid by the 10th January!!

    RAAAAAARGH!!!

    I hate Halifax.

:rotfl: Funnily enough I was planning to spend some time in that section during the sales. Now all the good stuff is gone:mad: I will not pay full price for anything anymore! I have to look on the bright side and think that at least I have saved money by not spending massively in the sales. That has always seemed like a rubbish bright side to me though. All the lovely things I wanted to get- gone! Am soooooo annoyed.

    thank you very much

i did try as my dmp told me to get my salary into another account when i signed up 2 years ago this coming feb. So off i went to the three other banks we have (i live on a island in scotland so we only have 4 banks) i asked for a basic account no over draft and no cheque book they would not listen to me i was tearing my hair out. Eventually went to Royal bank they were sounding good till they told me i wouldnt be getting a debit card  I asked why and they said its policy. I called DMC and told them this and they said ok just call us every month to make payment. My friend went with Royal bank and a year later she still has not got a debit card.

Like most people on here i have my good days and bad days some days i think you know what im paying you what i can and your accepting these payments so whats the problem

then other days i freak and think its the end of the world. I have this website and my two friends know and they help where and when they can as one of my mates fiance has just told her hes in trouble with council tax so she has been getting the letters i have no so she understands

thank you for your kind words. I know its not forever come my payment in Feb i will have paid just over £5 grand

I hear you on the quality stuff! Have decided that if I can't get back into them by the end of the year I will have to learn how to ebay, some of the things are going to be out of date. Well done with the running, I am far too lazy, but on the bright side I have saved myself the cost of some trainers:D

 Do you have a student account with them? I thought the overdraft was part of the package and they couldn't just take it away!? Can you get in to the branch to see them, sometimes they are more sympathetic in person. What a horrible thing to happen when you've come back for a holiday. They have a bit of a cheek lecturing people on how to run their finances considering their current circumstances.

Well that's fantastic! :j I know it's hard but it will be gone before you know it and along the way it will start to feel managable. Hopefully getting under £20k will give you a boost and help you see the light at the end of the tunnel.
