The last few NYE's I have just treated the same as any other day, the only thing I do is if I am still awake is I go up and kiss my DS on the chime of midnight. I have never held much ceremony on NYE, even from a young age. I would suggest just do what you fancy and screw any tradition xx

Now that sounds like a really lovely NYE tradition.

I totally agree, even if you are at a party having a brilliant time, there is always that awful moment just before midnight when all the couples get together and I feel like a complete spare part!!

I always try and remember that even if you are in a couple it isn't always that great. There is a couple who are coming to the party I am going to where the husband moved out for a month in the Summer due to his wifes infidelity. She is now pregnant but can't imagine the past few months have been easy for them at all and thinking that NYE is going to be a bit tough for them, considering it nearly always involves a bit of reflection over the past year...... the grass isn't always greener and all that.

And I can remember a NYE in the past when I was with my ex who was a bit of a nightmare and he spent it with his brother instead of me and I was really hurt.... I really think that the Katy Perry song 'hot and cold' was written for him!!!!

So all in all, things could be a lot worse for me!!!!

    Hey Rosa

I've just signed up to Flylady so lets see how I get on with that. One of my '100' things is to be more organised and much tidier so fingers crossed!

Thanks for putting me on to that one!

    Hi All

I'll be staying in on NYE but quite looking forward to it, I agree with Makeup about the awful midnight moment - been the single one a few too many times now!

Had a lovely day, took my neice to the sales to spend all her Christmas money/vouchers - oh, to be 12 again! Gave in to fab red patent shoes - whoops! Only £15 in primark tho, so could have been worse!!!!

Obvious where the name came from!!

Hey fabby beautiful people :D ,

I sincerely hope no one is a grotesquely over stuffed as me :o & sound like some of you have been having a hard time which makes me  so big :grouphug: all round & please know that you are all valued & loved here :A .

My christmas was fine apart from being struck down with a cold & yucky aching lethargy which has strangely disappeared since the last of the festive guests left today  . Both DD & I are very relieved to have our home to ourselves again. I'm starting my new healthy life as of tomorrow - absolutely sick of food . The cold also means that I've not drunk at all  so I now have 5 bottles of wine to go in my wine stash ( for when all the healthyness gets really boring ;) ).

I have no plans for new year s eve & as the day after is my Bday I'm hoping to take DD to the cost for the day. I may consider standing in the middle of the road at midnight & shouting out "Happy New Year & now f*** off, I'm fabulous :D .

Need to intake more water now so back in a bit ....
  • :D Lula... I think we should all have a midnight chorus of "**** off I'm fabulous!"

Good luck with the FLYing makeup!

  • You lot are possibly the only ones who will understand

My house party friend is not having a party this year, instead staying in with boyfriend and baby, as are EVERY SINGLE ONE of my FRIENDS>

seriously, 11 people. all with bf's or partners and children.

I'm in the same situation, everyone I know has kids now & is staying in. My local pub where there are a usually at least a few acquaintances have charged £20 just to get in & then ramped the prices right up the last few years so I won't be going there either.

TBH I've spent the last few NYE's in on my own & basically got my favourite foods in, favourite tipple, downloaded some films & made a night out of it & enjoyed myself probably more than queueing in a packed out pub for overpriced drinks or going to a houseparty & finding after an hour that someone alse has taken all the drinks I took & there's only cheap & nasty stuff that I don't really like left.
  • I knew you lot would understand!

I feel better today, mainly cos of this place and I am very annoyed with myself for letting yesterday get me down quite so badly as it did!

I tidied up and put away presents etc, today I may venture out into the garden

thank you all for being great!

    Nevertheless she persisted.

I think the only person bothered by me being on my own at new year now is my mam although she's finally got the message & stopped trying to badger me into going to their house for a party.

Although that might have more to do with her running out of [strike]friends daughters[/strike], [strike]friends nieces[/strike], [strike]friends female second cousins twice removed[/strike] to strategially invite who were of similarly unsuitable marital status.:D

    I love the list!!!

has anyone heard from Sarah? did she go away? is she ok?

  • Oh, and on a separate subject, I need a rant. The bloke I was seeing recently (the one who moved back up north) is back in town for the night and wondered if I wanted to pop over to pick up a dvd he still hasn't returned to me. Unsurprisingly I told him to post it to me.

Cheeky wotsit. You did him a favour by lending him the DVD, so he should return it to you, not ask you to go out of your way again by collecting it.
