  • I wonder if 2009 will be our year?

    Yes it will! As I am planning to get married and have children I am running out of possible years! So 2009 will have to be the one! (Might be 2010 though. Or 2011)

    That's why I am loathe to sell them, I just know that one day they will fit me!:D Probably in 2009 I think; after all, that is going to be my year:rolleyes: :D

    Hi Sarah

    I used to keep my clothes for aaaages, thinking I'd slim back into them. As my weight's yo-yo'd for years there was a time when I would've fit into them again, but would I wear them?? Nooooo!!!! They looked SO dated (these were the days before my "capsule" wardrobe). Gave them all to charity in the end - this was before eBay. However, I have since eBay'd some clothes & shoes and I honestly couldn't itemise what I've got rid of because I never wore them. I'd take them out of the wardrobe occasionally, look at them, think "nah, I won't wear it today", then put it back.

    I now apply this rule: If I haven't worn it for 12 months, get rid of it. It's that simple really. And...you get to make money, space and generally feel a lot less cluttered.

    Go on - give it a try! Chances are when you do get to your target weight/size, you'll want to treat yourself to new clothes anyway, not dig out "old" clothes, even if they are still tagged and bagged.

    Hello!!

    Sorry I'm a bit late - I've been seeing other forums!! Sorry for being momentarily disloyal, but I had to find out exactly what was behind the bizaare Strictly Come Dancing result tonight. I was all :confused: but think I understand now.

    Please explain, I am:confused: too!

    I think I am feeling a little bit like this too Buffy, it must be the time of year. I have spent a while thinking I don't need a boyfriend just yet, want to lose weight, battle debts, etc first, but I do think Christmas is a bit carppy if you don't have a partner. It just makes everything more fun. Plus it reminds me of every single other Christmas when I promise myself that next year I will have someone to spend it with. Then I make no effort during the year and am always cross when I spend another Christmas surrounded by my family who all have partners. And to make it worse there are lots of new babies this year. I am the only single childless one.:sad:

    no you aren't I am too, meeting up with two of my oldest and best friends monday, both pregnant and partnered. its very hard. very hard.

    I will force you in to sticking to your resolutions if you force me!

    xx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

    Yes it is hard, I don't care what other people think, lots of people seem to enjoy being single and I'm not in any way knocking them, it's entirely a personal choice to feel like that, but I for one am bloody sick of it, I am sick of being the oldest and the only one in my family without children. I am sick of being the only one of my friends who is not engaged/married/ having a baby. I am sick of doing every single bloody thing by myself. I am sick of my car having problems and having to deal with it all. I am sick of living in rented accommodation because there is only one salary coming in. I am sick of Saturday nights in and I am sick of a million other things.
    I will force you in to sticking to your resolutions if you force me!

    Ok. My resolution is to be married by the end of 2009. If I'm not it will be because you didn't force me and it will all be your fault!:D

    Sarah (and Buffy) - I know what you mean. It is rubbish being single sometimes, but I honestly don't feel it over Christmas. On the odd occasion I've had a b/f over Christmas and New Year it just adds to the stress levels - you've got the presents to buy, his family to see, too many opportunities for p!ssed arguments.... Nah, I'd rather be single at Christmas & New Year - all snug and warm at home in my jarmies watching telly and eating chocolates.

    As for being the only single and childless one... I'm one of six and I'm the only single and childless one. I think my family have given up on me finding a bloke - they've stopped asking anyway!! I've got nine nephews and neices, and (can you believe it) my neice had a baby last month. My neice! That makes me a great aunty and I'm only 37!! :rotfl:

    Oh, I'm sure I'm not helping :o . It's awful when being single ruins holidays, but just think... all your married-with-children family probably think you're living a fabulous single life, so why not pretend you are and have fun with it! They'll be green with envy at your independence and self-reliance and the fact that you get to party with us fabulous people every weekend!! _party_

    Rachel and Lisa tied for Judges points so were given 3 points each, Tom in third place got 1

    Rachel = 3
    Lisa = 3
    Tom = 1

    The public then voted.

    However even if Tom got the most public votes and gained 3 points he would only have 4 points.

    The other two would get 2 and 1 (or 1 and 2) so would have 5 and 4 (or 4 and 5). In other words there was no possible way Tom could avoid the dance off.

    So.... all three got through and all votes were carried over till next week.

    Hope that helps :confused:

    There's much consternation and angry discussion on other forums - it's quite amusing really. People taking it all v seriously...

    Hmmm, that doesn't seem very fair, there was no way he could avoid it but he still could have been saved by the judges, so he wouldn't necessarily have been the one to leave. (I am one of those people who takes it v seriously!)

  • Hello Sarah and Buffy again

    I've just read your posts, which I missed cos I was typing a reply. I'm sorry if I sounded flippant about the whole "being single at Christmas" scenario. It wasn't my intention to make light of a situation that you're obviously upset about. I just have a different mindset I guess. I'll try to be more considerate in future.

    Still pals? :o
