My DS is going on a sleep over tonight, and I am doing nothing!
I was meant to have a date, via internet dating website but after the guy admitted to going to prison twice for GBH, once on an X girlfriend, I thought I'd best give it a miss!
Maybe internet dating isn't worth it, maybe I should get a hobby instead of a man :rotfl:

Oh lilly, at least you found out beforehand! How awful! Am beginning to think we should all just get hobbies instead.Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
Wow, that's pretty extreme.
Does give you a heads-up on what you need, as opposed to what you want.
It's not actually as extreme as it looks on paper (or screen in this case).
I spent my early adulthood living in miltary barracks with no more than I could fit in a locker & then in civillian life spending a lot of time in hotels wherever the work was, & living out of a suitcase so living without much "stuff" is as normal to me as living with stuff.
Being able to do without much stuff does help a lot with being able to throw more of your money at the debts though & because home was so spartan I spent a lot more time at work or doing courses which led to me getting promotions & higher salary.0 -
Thanks Sarah, yes it has helped to write it down and get it off my chest. So did finding dime bar cake also in the fridge
I think the 'replacement flatmate'I had in mind has moved in with his ex?-girlfriend, unfortunately. But it might just be that the mutual friend I was fishing for info from is someone I've been politely turning down for years, so maybe it's not surprising he doesn't want to help set me up! I have another contact so will try that as well. Otherwise, the landlord is fine about leaving things a couple of months to see if any friends of friends want the room, then we'll try advertising. I am trying to be optimistic and assume the new person will be either a gorgeous single bloke or a fab new female friend but will still miss current flatmate. Though not his v non-MSE habits eg. paying standard tariff for electric!
Re. the car thing, apparently that's what repairing small scratches cost when the car is new and they take it to the garage under warranty - I don't think they're messing me about as I should get to see the bill. I didn't know either, was prepared for £200 ish but £500 is silly - however not much I can do about it now. I am just cross that a) I am obviously in the wrong job, must look for courses in car paint repair  and b) if I had done what everybody I know has confessed they'd do and just left it, I wouldn't be having to pay it. Duh.
Anyway I hope you had a much better week than I've had! How are your challenges going?

How bad was the scrape? I got a new bonnet & had it colour matched with my Saab last year for £380 inc vat. & Saab's are fairly expensive to get parts for.0 -

Ooh, dime bar cake!:D
It's good that your landlord is fine about things and you're right, the new flatmate could be fab! I think I would go for the female option as it's nice to share with girls and she could have some lovely male friends.
I think I will join you on the car paint repair course, sounds like the world's easiest high-paying job. All that time wasted studying! I'm sure I've had doors replaced on my car for less than thatI think these people are being a bit greedy actually, it was good of you to leave the note and surely they could get a few scratches painted for less, I know if someone did that to me I would find the cheapest option and be very grateful that someone else who could have run off was willing to pay.
Edit: all challenges suspended until 2009 at which point I will say, as I do every year, "this year will be my year!" By the law of averages, one year I'm going to be right.Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -

Grrrr - sounds like they've taken it to a main dealer then. The annoying thing is the main dealer won't do the job themselves - they'll just pass the work on to a local body shop & the add their own mark up to what the body shop charge them.
Is it too late to claim against your insurance? A £500 claim won't have that much impact on your renewal price if you've insured your no claims.0 -

Are you allowed to still do that if you've admitted responsibility and agreed to pay? I am a bit clueless about these things.Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0
