Look on the bright side Sarah, it won't cost a lot, also even if you weren't single you'd still be going on your own, and everyone else probably wishes they weren't going either.
i was walking up the shop floor earlier, and one of the guys was bent over, so i said that was a great view, and he said I'll put it in a christmas stocking, then he said no I'll put something else in a stocking for you, I walked off laughing when I came back later he said I'd made his day, he has got a nice bum tho.

Sarah  to party type thing alone, however just remeber that you are fabulous :D .

    That's it.

Would offer to come along as moral support but sadly I have my usual friday early evening shift as DD personal swimming lesson chauffeur/se  .

I often wonder how men would cope if all we fabulous, gorgeous single & debt ridden girls were to appear at the same place together... just imagine we are there with you & then come back & tell us all about it. It cant be anymore [STRIKE]boring[/STRIKE] pleasant than my eveing out the other night.

I went shopping for christmas presents today .... & bought myself a new pair of boots, a fab pink bag & the perfect tea cup :o I did get sutff for other people too, honestly I really did :D

Go forth & dazzle Sarah ;)

I don't want to go. I feel sick. I hate work things because I won't be able to avoid these people in future if I do or say something stupid. Plus I don't have anything nice that fits so I will have to wear my usual party outfit which I do like and just about fits but hugs in all the wrong places (why oh why can't I stick to a diet?) For God's sake I am 36, I should be better at this by now. :o

Lol oh sarah , dont worry! i went to a work meal last night, where i only knew a couple of people from work...the rest were customers.. i was dreading it and had too much wine at the start..and declared when they bought me my sardines to start "wheres the veg?!" omg! how embarrasing.. was an ok night but felt i was just talking for talking sake and really really didnt want to be there...

will be thinking of you later... im at another works do tonight!! but this one im glad to go on as two good girlie mates work with us so will be or should be a lot of fun!

  • Sarah, I always find with these things that once I'm there and have started talking to someone, I start relaxing and generally enjoy it quite a lot more than expected.

I'm like you though, always nervous before things like that. I think it's a very human response and you should embrace it rather than fight it.

  • Ah, works parties.

I hate them too but I just refuse to go to them any more. My bosses haven't exactly been happy about it but it certainly hasn't done me any harm.

Several of the works party regulars who went to them all have been made redundant but I'm still here.

Sarah, it's better going to works things on your own - then you don't need to worry that OH has someone to talk to or in the case of my ex that he's not getting hideously drunk and embarrassing!

  • Hi again all,

I attended our Xmas do last Saturday and much to my suprise an internet friend of mine agreed to come too (we hadn't met in person prior to this).

I think she enjoyed it (I hope) but I'm worried that now she seems to be online less. She blamed it on her internet connection. Of course I might be well off the mark here and she is genuine. Perhaps I'm worrying too much!

    Any thoughts.

    You guys are brilliant.:A

Had minor mishap earlier, found party top in washing basket covered in make up:eek: and flatmate is using washing machine. Luckily skirt was hanging up and have found replacement top. Shoes are fab and sparkly. Handbag is expensive.

eco, youare right, should be a cheap night at least.
Lula, I shall go forth and sparkle and will remember mantra "f*** off, I'm fabulous":D
    Yargo, :rotfl: at sardines!
Michelle, am hoping you are right, I know when I get talking I'm usually ok. (Hope you're feeling better btw)
SBC, I usually avoid works things too but am trying to force myself to be more sociable and couldn't really get out of this one.
Skint Spice, definitely right, can do without the worry of someone else showing me up, I can manage that one perfectly myself.:o

Need a bit more assistance please if anyone's here, can anyone suggest any alternative answers:

Very brave of you both to go to a party together when you hadn't met before!

How does she seem when you are online, is she still keen to talk to you? Have you asked her to meet up again?
