Skint_spice... I agree that dress is gorgeous!! Are you going to buy it?? I haven't got round to reading your diary yet, but I have subscribed to it so when I get chance I shall have a read through.
Buffy.. I've subscribed to your diary too so will read it when I get chance.

I love reading diaries, I first got addicted to the site from reading someone's diary, it took me weeks to read, it was like a book. I can't remember her level of debt now but it was massive and in the end she got out of the debt and ended up moving and getting engaged, what I read upto it was like a fairytale ending, I'll have to try and find it. I'm babysitting at my sisters on Saturday night and I've been up there cleaning for about 4 hours tonite so with no cleaning needing doing I think I'll spend the night catching up on diaries so if anyone else here has one let me know :)

No I am trying soooo hard to resist! I only have around eight months yet to go to be debt free then I can buy what I like so I'm trying to stick to the basics as I'd really like to bring the date forward a month or two. Plus I've lost a wee bit of weight and I'm starting to fit into some of the stuff I have already got so it's sort of like giving my wardrobe the kiss of life! now I can choose what to wear in the morning and not just shuffle it about till I find something that fits.:D

I too joined the site because of someone's diary and love reading loads of them, in amongst the chat you pick up some tips too which help you along the way. it's comforting knowing that other folks go through similar things and agonise over spends.

Cars... I would be DF if I hadn't bought a new one this year but I know nothing about cars and needed something reliable with warranty etc. still next year I'll be DF with a year old car (tottie and unexciting though it is) and that's a situation I would never have achieved without this site.:T

    Hi Guys,

Just wondered what are your thoughts on internet dating?

  • Hello all. I'm going through a very bad time and wondering if I can crawl back into the thread?

I've been seeing a guy for the last couple of months. He's from up north but moved down south because of a job opportunity. He's only been here a couple of months but already hates the job.

He says the only good thing about living down here is me, but he misses everything from back home so much (support of family and friends, social life etc) that he's almost definitely going to quit his job and move back next week.

Now, I don't fall for men easily but with this guy I saw something in him that I truly felt comfortable with and I let myself fall for him. Now I'm beyond devastated and not sure I can cope.

I've been crying almost non stop since i found out but I'm not only scared of losing him, I'm scared of being single for the rest of my life. I've only taken a chance like this on one man before (about 6 years ago) and he moved away from me too. I'm just not sure I can go through it again.

What makes it worse is that it's not ending because he wants it to, just because of outside influences. So I get no closure. Never will. He doesn't want a long distance relationship either.

How on earth am I going to get through this?

(((hugs))) michelle, it's a tough one but by the sounds of it the only alternative would be for you to move up north... is this an option?

Lily, my friend is now living with someone she met through internet dating and is very happy.

Hi Michelle, I agree with Skint spice, is there any way you could move up north as well? It does seem to be the only option if he doesn't want a long distance relationship and even if you did have a long distance relationship and it worked out you would probably have to move there anyway later on.

If you feel that much for him maybe you should take the risk. I would jump and see what happens.

Oh Michelle that's pants, maybe moving would be better than nothing at all.

Lily give internat dating a try, you never know and at least you'll get to know lads you would never have met, anythings worth a try.

Bowski the lads have been quiet today, friday's are the worse, there so excited it's nearly the weekend, so we normally get treated to a full frontal and i usually get asked if I've got time to help them knock one out, I'm running out of air freshner I've got 3 of them this week for farting in my office, it's really glamourous here, but at least we have a laugh.
  • Sadly it's just not possible to move at this time in my career. A couple of years time and everything would be different, but I work with a company that are training me up. I'm just going to have to face life alone again I guess.

    Evening all...

Thankyou everyone for your avice re:car!! I am such a nitemare at making big decisions, I have to ask a million people before I decide what to do  Well I checked out insurance lastnite and I found some for £50 pm. Obviously I'll get it cheaper than that but I just had a quick look to give me some idea to see if I'm going to be able to afford it and I am. I am on the blokes insurance too and he said that's up until June aswell, so I'm going to save up 1600 by june so then I'll have the money for the insurance too and then it should be lower the next year when I have my no claims (coz I aint gonna crash right? lol) I won't get into anymore debt by buying the car I just won't be able to pay off the debts I have now as quickly but I need a car for work and if I didn't work my debts would reduce at a much slower rate!
Thanks for that site Lula... somebody told me about it and I could not remember the name for the life of me, but looks like I'm getting a very good deal. I think he just wants it off his hands.

SBC... thanks for the advice, apparently it's a 1.4 16v 3d clio alize and its petrol. But apart from the petrol bit, it doesnt mean much to me!! I like the sound of the 16v bit though :rotfl: Also I remembered as I was driving home from work today that I forgot to thank you for the post about my laptop. I have it insured so it will be fixed/replaced no problem (probably part of the reason why I stayed so calm when DD told me she broke it! lol) But thankyou very much for the advice :D

TDQO... Although its the DFW thing to do, I just couldn't haggle the price with him, it's a good deal but especially coz I know him and he's been so good as to lend me his car for the last 7 months out of the goodness of his heart. My concience wouldn't let me do it.

BGB ...well done on your appraisal :T altough I'm not suprised atall because you're on this thread and everyone on this thread is wonderful, important and valued ;) I am like you and don't like spending money which is why my head was in pieces over this car malarky! I'm like £1000  I've never spent that kind of money on one thing before. Infact I think the most expensive thing I've ever bought outright is my sofas which cost about £260!

Lilly I know loads of people who have had plenty of luck through dating websites.I don't think there's anything wrong with it atall. Are you thinking of giving it a try or do you already do it?

Runmichellerun, I'm sorry things are so horrid for you at the moment. I don't really have any words of encouragement I'm afraid but I know what you mean about not wanting to be single, thats what horrified me about when my ex dumped me, but a couple of months down the line I cannot believe I felt like that coz I am loving being on my own. I'm sorry to say it coz it's probably not what you need to hear right now but it so true that time is a great healer.

I'm sorry if there's been other posts since eco's 16:09 post but that is how long I have been on here typing this out, I've made tea and been on the phone to a friend for an hour and various other things so I'm off for my bath now that was run at 4ish and I'll be back afterwards to catch up :)

    evening :hello:

I guess I'll just have to check out the insurance now see if there's any chance on this earth I'm gonna be able to afford it. I don't have any no claims as I've always been on someone elses insurance. I only want to do it if I can keep chipping away at my debts. Anyways I think that's my rant over and I don't think it makes sense but I know you all understand that things always seem clearer once you've had a good rant about it :p

Hello to all you lurker out there...feel free to join us anytime

    Hello Bowski

Thought I'd pop in being a long time lurker  , I'm subscribed to this thread of Sarah's, just thought I'd comment on the "no claims" bit of your post. I was on ex-oh's policy for 15 years, no policy of my own, when we split & I got my own insurance, I got 5 years introductory no claims, by being able to prove that I'd been a named driver on someone else's policy.
Sorry if that was a bit long & rambling for a the first post on this thread by a lurker :rotfl:

By the way Sarah, everyone deserves to treat themselves & silly though it may sound I always try & buy myself something just for me when I get paid every month, even if it's only a book or box of choccies, just to tell myself I'm working for something other the normal monthly bills :j
