I take really noisy sweet wrappers and crisps in....

a bit off the theme but my brother works with someone who is a real tight wad at the cinema, what happened was he met this lass they went to see a film, when they were sat down he turned to her and said would she like a hotdog, she said yes and he took a food flask out of his bag got the t-cakes out and gave her an hotdog, not surprising really they haven't been out since0

I always take my own food to the cinema. Where I used to live the cinema was next door to a sainsburys and even sainsburys were far cheaper than the cinema so I would buy food from there and take it in and never had any problems. Even with the student discount going to the cinema in the daytime I pay £6 I'm not forking out another £10 just for some sweets and a drink.
A few weeks ago I went to the cinema and they were searching bags uh-oh I thought but it turns out that this particular cinema dont mind you bringing your own food in so long as it isnt hot food. They were searching bags to check for recording equipment.0 -
I buy drinks from my local cinema because they sell beer and I like to support them for doing that.
If I go to a mainstream cinema though I'll take along a 2L bottle of coke and some shop bought popcorn in my rucksack then when I get in I'll hunt around the seats for an empty cup and popcorn box that someone has left to put them in so it looks like I've paid for it.0 -
Well I suppose they can 'ban' anyone from entering private property, for any reason they see fit. As all the various cinema chains food and drink are hideously over priced I think they are missing a trick here, if they did it like Mr T and the rest do, pile it high and sell it cheap, they may well see a rise in sales. As regards searching you they do not have the legal right to search anyone - only Mr Plod can do that, with reasonable cause!0

I'm actually amazed with the popularity of satalite & cable TV & cheap DVD rentals & web downloads how expensive the cinema is nowadays.
Agree, they would do far more business by being cheaper.0 -
I don't care if the cinema isn't a charity or whatever, I'm not rich so I refuse to buy loads of stuff. I take in drinks from the supermarket and buy popcorn. I hide the drinks in my bag and normally if you buy popcorn they don't stop you as you have bought something.0

I still can't get over them stopping & searching people.
I would NEVER set foot in there again if they wanted to root through my bag for contraband:mad:
As it happens I don't brring food in, but my (Mulberry) handbag is huge & more than big enough to put stuff in if I wanted.0 -
