Taking own food / drinks into cinema

I've only gone to the cinema on Wednesdays for over a year now due to an Orange pay as you go phone only used for this offer as a 35p text that saves £8 (yes it's £8 a ticket for us at the nearest cinema  ) is worth it :j .
Always take own food with us. I like to eat healthily so take stuff like cherries, salad, satsumas, bananas etc and can not buy this at the cinema so have a very valid excuse not to buy their food as wellas them having very little to offer a vegan to eat as it is. My fiance takes his own food also but things like pick n mix from a place like wilkos and asda, crisps, chocolate etc but he pays at least half of what it would at the cinema.
We knew someone that worked at a cinema (not going to say what one) and they put up their prices 200% for the food they sold because it is the only REAL profit maker. Their tickets only cost £5.50 for each person and under £5 for students but it's too far for us to go to as travel would cost more or travel and ticket than getting to our nearest one with the tickets also  .
Going to the cinema is expencive enough without buying food at 200% above it's real price  . I sometimes hate paying the price we do but we do need to get out the house as we don't go to pubs, clubs etc so this is basically the only treat we getso I bare that in mind when we go but only pay for the tickets there :rotfl: .

Actually the expected mark up on food across all sectors of the industry is about 400%, so if they are only 200% they are not bad.0 -

I was thinking of joining this
Don’t miss a flick with the Cineworld Unlimited Card!!! Exclusive to Cineworld Cinemas it is the ultimate movie lover’s card where you get to experience unlimited tears, unlimited horror, unlimited laughter, unlimited fear, unlimited movies on any day and at any time from just £11.99 a month*.
Anyone else joined it or thinking of it?
I joined this about 3 weeks ago and think it's brilliant. I've seen 6 or 7 films (actually went to 2 in a row yesterday!) whereas I rarely went before because of the price.
The only thing to take note of, if you havent seen it yet, is you get tied in for 12 months, unless you have a very good reason for cancelling - it's in the Ts and Cs.
Because I have this card and can go whenever I want, I don't mind paying for a drink etc occasionally. But I still think £5.70 for a small drink and small popcorn (I paid that yesterday) is too high!Blood donations to date: 10 | Type: O negative[/B][/CENTER]0 -

Mrs E that was when they did work there. I am aware it is most likely higher now. Still it just shows how bad cinema prices really are.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
Do bananas smell bad? I quite like the smell of them, my main objection would be that it would make me fancy one
Our local cinema does a tortillas with hot cheese sauce thing that STINKSAnd I'm a cheese lover, but the cinema just does not seem like the right place. Everything smells stronger in the dark!

I went to the local cinema today for the first time in around 3 years, for the little one's 3rd birthday. A small popcorn was £2.30 and it was too big for us to finish between the two of us. Little one loves popcorn and it was a huge treat for him.
Everyone was buying sweets, and saying they had saved on the ticket prices with orange wednesday so they could afford the sweets.
I was glad it was orange wednesday because we only watched half a film each - wall-e was too long for the little one and it was far too hot in there.
I took a drink with us in his baby cup, and also a fruit shoot (foul things!) and nobody cared, but it was just odd how everyone was buying coke at around £3 for a small cup - they didn't need to restrict customers on bringing in their own food because they were doing a roaring trade in overpriced coke and chocolate.'bad mothers club' member 13
