There was a guy barred from his local cinema (iirc) for doing this - I'll try and find a link"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Quote from article about Guy Hands and his recent purchases:
'He made similar cost-cutting moves after he bought the cinema chains Odeon and UCI, stopping executives from attending glitzy film premieres with the admonition that they worked in the popcorn-selling business, not Hollywood.'

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

But surely it would make more sense to bring DOWN the prices so more people would actually buy it!!! If they continue to increase prices they will lose more revenue not just from lack of food sales but also lack of ticket sales as people will just refuse to go.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
I just feel sorry for parents with more than one child, everything is geared to getting as much money as possible out of families. going to the flicks was an affordable treat when I was little, as was my brother going to football matches. So if parents cant afford to do it the kids are bored, they get into bother, it costs everyone in more than money.:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o
Well except mastered my mortgage 5 yrs early :T:j

Agree absolutely with many comments made here. I too would buy if the price was comparable but I fiercely resent being ripped off because I am a captive audience. I know films are out on DVD or Sky not long after release but I like the big screen experience - indeed, there are some films that you only get the full "Wow" factor on with a big screen. There was a film exec recently who said that film attendances go up during recession - you would think they would be making the best of this opportunity for increased attendances rather than leaving a somewhat negative impression with some cinema goers.0 -

I just shove it all into my handbag.
I also use Orange Wednesday 241 and free screenings where possible. I couldn't afford to take my lot to the cinema any other way."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

I am in full agreement - I would buy goodies at the cinema if it wasnt a rip off. My DS & I pop to Wilks & normally manage bogof drinks (99p) & a bit of pick & mix - no more than £3.NEVER ASSUME! :rolleyes:0
