Bank Charges Financial Hardship Disussion

Hi Karen,
I am in EXACTLY the same postion as you - awaiting that letter! I spoke to someone on Friday and was told that my claim had been resolved (did you mean 'resolved' when you said yours had been 'accepted'?) and to expect a letter by Tuesday, or to phone again by then if I had heard nothing by then. Mine is waiting to be signed off, but I also don't know the outcome yet. I think it's only a short wait now, but the girl I spoke to on Friday was quite helpful and said she could have told me the result if the letter had been signed off and posted that day, but was unable to then as it had yet to be signed off.
The last thing you want is for someone on the phone to tell you on the phone that it's been accepted and that you are getting 'this many £'s', only for it to be rejected at the last hurdle (although I think the signing off is just a formality).
It is really frustrating I know, but try to be patient, and hopefully you will hear from them this week. I hope I do! And if you want, just phone them each day or every other day, whatever you feel comfortable with.
By the way, what number are you calling to chase up? Is it 0845 300 5857? That's the one you should use if you are not. Just call it, press option 2, and ask for an update on your hardship claim (sorry if you are already calling that number, but I thought I'd let you know in case you were just ringing the normal Barclays CS number).
Good luck
Dan
Hi Dan,
Yes thats the number I am calling and am starting to wonder which one of them I am going to speak to when I call up next as I have called so many times!
I know it is only a matter of time now but it is so frustrating waiting and waiting.
I dont know weather they have resolved it, what they did say this morning was that the claim had been accepted as financial hardship and a letter had been drafted to me, but as yet the letter had not actually been signed and until it had been signed they could not read out to me what it said!
Then about an hour later I received an email from Customer Relations saying 'thanks for your earlier complaint, this has now been progressed to a manager and someone would be contacting me asap to discuss' so I just called again now to ask who and when the call would be and they said I probably wouldnt get a call but would just recieve the letter sometime this week?
I am usually quite a patient person but what is annoying me is the letter saying you will hear within 10 days and the promise of a phone call back that day and then an email saying someone wil contact you....but then none of it happens!
I think I am just going to leave it a day or so and see if anything happens or if I hear from anyone and then if nothing by Friday I will call back and then report to FOS.
I also lodged a case with Halifax last week and Captial one today...so we shall see where they get me....apart from high blood pressure...lol!!
Thanks though...

before going to ombudsman why not send last template letter. Thats what ive done ive told them that a £28 offer is more than insulting. The next step for me is the ombudsman but hoping they might offer full 1st because the ombudsman is getting cheesed off with banks letting it get this far i think they will also have big paper chain asweel as the banks ???

Just recieved a call from CR manager at Halifax...I was wrongly advised this morning. Apparently Halifax have considered my hardship claim, and are happy to acknowledge that I am in financial difficulty ( i should hope so after all the effort i've put into proving it to them!) but are unable to consider refunding my charges till after the court case. More discouraging tactics on their part? Either way, it's off to the Ombudsman tomorrow.0

Does anyone know if the Barclays Instant Access feature (whereby you can draw on a cheque up to £1000 before the cheque has actually cleared) is still available after receiving a goodwill gesture payout i.e. do they stop that facility as way of getting their own back, or do the T&C's of your account remain the same?
Thanks

Hi there
I'm already with the CCS as we are in financial difficulty and we have an agreement to pay an amount to Lloyds for overdrafts. Would I still be able to reclaim my charges with them? I'm thinking if I put the claim in motion, will they then get awkward and decide that what I am paying is no longer acceptable? The accounts have already been 'frozen' and we no longer have any access to the accounts.0 -
Hi, this thread is so helpful, it's great to read of everyone's successes. Just goes to show that if you have stamina and keep going you can get back what's yours! I wonder if anyone can help. I first reclaimed bank charges in 2007, and was put on hold along with the rest of the known universe. i have just re-applied under hardship, which is definitely the case since my divorce last year and having to buy my ex husband out of the house. So I now have a mortgage and all bills to pay on one salary, which is a struggle, as many of you know.
The sucess stories really cheer me up, and I am so happy knowing that money is popping into everyone's accounts. however, I am reclaiming from Lloyds TSB and I'm not reading many success tories from them....!!Any idea if they are particularly hard to reclaim from, or should I be looking on another thread?

I am claiming from the Halifax and have sent 2 finnacial hardship letters for two accounts and a letter with the second one to tie the 2 together yet all I keep receiving are more letters with financial hardship forms asking me to fill them in I have phoned the customer complaints number and they have told me they have received the letter just be patient are they trying to drag their feet by doing this. I put the original claim in September 2007 and a financial hardship claim in in April 2009.0
