    Hi All,
I managed to get HSBC to admit I was in financila hardship after a 60 min pone call - providing income / outgoings, etc... They agreed to refund 6 months worth of charges but with hindsight I am now wondering if I should be asking for more.

Is there a legal requirement for refunding charges based on financial hardship (I though maybe 6 yrs??)??

    Any help would be appreciated.

Already answered in the thread you created earlier asking the same thing

There is no legal requirement to refund charges due to financial hardship; it is a code of practice which you can read in full for yourself here:
    http://www.lendingstandardsboard.org.uk/docs/lendingcode.pdf

As you can also see, there is no obligation to give any refund of charges at all; each situation is assessed on it's individual merits and the only requirement is that the lender treats the claim in a positive and sympathetic manner.
