Bank Charges Financial Hardship Disussion

  • I'm new here but I have been in debate with BoS since Dec 08 about charges. We had reached the stage where they were taking over £630 per month in charges but we are not getting pursued for anything yet because we have been using our cards etc to survive. The last letter from BoS said that they were not going to correspond with me any more. I went back about hardship and have not heard anything from them. However, I made a second SAR request for information about charges on our account. They responded by asking for the £10 charge but enclosed a copy of the letter that I sent to them. On the copy letter was written "SOLVE IT", I have written to ask what this meant but no reply yet.

I am amazed that you must be on extreme hardship to count i.e. court action against you - on whose side is the FSA any way?

Give natwest a call or pop into the branch to see what is happening. Remember, branch staff generally have no idea what is going re bank charges test case so I wouldn't bamboozle them with it. Ask them about the overdraft as well.

If i have been refused twice by Lloysd TSB they know damn well i am a hardship case, can i go to the ombudsman or what? I have gone as far as i can with Lloyds staff and they don't make any sense in their replies, my first letter to them was to claim hardship i recieved "we think its fair" in response, so i stated "under FSA waiver rules i would like my case dealt with now" in my current letter and got a lot of rubbish back again. I don't know what to do from here.
    Owed out = lots.

Banks do not have a personal relationship with you and just because they refund you once or twice is not necessarily an indication that you are in hardship.

    They are standard template letters.

Lloyds TSB told me on the phone last February they do not have to deal with claims under the hardship waiver rules. Its interesting to note that Natwest, Barclays, Abbey to name a few, HAVE been dealing with claims, under the hardship waiver. I filed a complaint against Lloyds TSB with the FOS in February 2009 which is being dealt with. I don't know who the hell Lloyds think they are, but they could do with a severe ticking off by the FSA/FOS.

  • Hi Everyone. Last monh I put in a claim to Alliance & Leicester under hardship (I was unemployed on JSA). They have just written back to me asking for more info, but since my application, I have started work (not complaining about that mind!). Should I just provide the info asked for a omit to say I'm now working, or should I tell them I am? Bearing in mind that by the time they get my response my first months wages will have gone in to the account under question?

Thanks ahead for your responses... :-)
