I had a claim registered for charges with Lloyds as did my 19 year old daughter. Sitting in the queue like everyone else. However, I have no had to sign on for JSA as hubby lost his job and would like to claim under the financial hardship scheme. I have sent them a letter as has my daughter. We have mortgage arrears, utility arrears, council tax arrears (although I am applying for council tax benefit) along with personal debts. I would like to know my rights and what should happen next?
  • Thanks to everyone who answered my post , unfortunatly i have already done all of the above including submitting a long statement detailing all incoming / outgoing / savings ( i have non ) and all of my arrears ! the last person who spoke to me said i was being unfair to ask her if she had ever gone thru having to be signed off work sick , live on ssp and still manage to pay everything ! and then said as far as the bank was conserned this matter was closed until the final outcome of the court case ! as for K1mmie i really feel for you ! the best thing you can do it try ! and dont stop at the first hurdle ! keep going , as i phoned almost every other day to get someone to talk to me ! hopefully you have a more understanding bank than i do ! also as you are going onto jsa make sure they understand the implications for you ! good luck :)
  • also make sure you have a look at the section on the main site about reclaiming credit card charges !!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Hello everyone, I'm hoping you are managing to get back what you deserve from the banks.

I am just sending in my letter to Halifax to ask for the charges summary and need to attach £10 in case they charge me. Given that they were HBOS and are now part of Lloyds group, does anyone know what name to put on the cheque? I was thinking of using a postal order, as I'm worried that the cheque may bounce and then incur charges.

I was seriously ill and am now recovering but I reckon I have paid £3-4,000 in charges, which is about what my current debts are. I literally pleaded with the staff to work out some sort of plan but with no avail. Given my income was less than £2000 I reckon I paid nearly a quarter of my income in charges in some years. Once I have the totals I'm going to work out the percentages to try to emphasise how disproportionate they are. I've already drafted the follow on letter with copies of SSP and Incapacity Benefit payments and added lots of detail into the template letter.

A major low was a call centre person saying that I'd have to be more "vigilant"!! How can you be vigilant if you have nothing?!

    Good luck to everyone!

    Hi everyone!!

Need some guidance. I recently put a claim to barclays claiming financial hardship. I am now a full time student and am genuinely struggling. Total charges £1860 and this is what I asked for. Usual procedure, budget plannet filled to ascertain my expense/income. They admitted I was in financial hardship and offered me 50% refund of charges applied last year. I was not happy and then they offered me 50% of the last two years, I disapproved this and gave a slight indication that the last four year charges refund would be okay (because thats when I started studying, but I was in financial hardship realy before that). They then offered me 50% refund of charges dating to 2005. I again rejected this (I felt bad doing that:rotfl: ) they said they will ring me back again. They did call, missed call, called back, said they would call again, and now yesterday they credited my account with the £747. This was not the agreed amount. I want the full £1860.

How should I proceed from here, if???

I suppose £747 is still a good payout???

    Regards

Lloyds knew that we were paying my daughters charges debt at £10 per month, however she has now had to write to explain the situation and see if she can claim. Good luck to you all - keep up the pressure!

Can somebody let me have the address I need to write to re Hardship at Barclays?
I have debt collecters on my case and have received two reposession threats (both from Barclays). Hopefully that may indicate hardship to them.

If the £747 covers arrears then yes its a good payout, if it doesn't then it isn't. Well done for getting them to up it twice, if you still have arrears on essentials (mortgage/water etc) then you can go back and ask for more. The remainder of the claim will be sorted out after the test case ends.
