I'm still on the dole and in hardship but now Abbey says I'm not! Bless 'em. So. WHEN WILL THE SUPREME COURT ANNOUNCE ITS DECISION? WE WERE TOLD IT WOULD BE OCTOBER. I think they're scared of adding to the muddle the greedy bankers have got themselves into. GIVE S OUR MONEY BACK NOW! Can you tell how cross I am?
The Supreme Court are not deciding on whether the terms under which charges are made are fair so their decision WILL NOT LEAD TO IMMEDIATE REFUNDS OF CHARGES.
Do you currently use the Abbey account?
Do you still incur charges?
Do you have priority debt arrears(mortgage or rent, council tax, utilities)?0 -
Hi. I've made a claim and sent off the HSBC budget off to them showing I am in hardship. I've got priority debts inc council tax at bailiffs water n gas. HSBC rang me last thurs but I've rang them back 5 times now. I have not been put through to the financial hardship dept which I'm told by the first person I spoke to is the ones who rang me. They always say there's a fault and now today I got through only to be cut off straight away. I've not been to fos yet so should I go there now?
I'll give you the number: "The telephone number is 0845 6006423 and is available Monday to Friday - 08:00 to 18:00. This is made clear in our letter and the customer is advised to quote "LCC01" when telephoning so that they can be directed to the correct team.
Have the income and expenditure form in front of you when you speak to them.0 -
I have just gone the financial hardship route with charges from RBS for £2000 and got a letter saying I had been handed over to debt recovery for my O/D.
It turns out that when you claim these charges back it is reflected against your managers budget and he/she gets this amount taken off the targets that they have acheived. So what my madam did was hand me over to debt recovery so it would not reflect on her figures..... How is that for being mean. Apparently I also get a black mark against my name. I am so angry and I dont know what to do now. I have also not had any response from them regarding my claim so at the moment feel I have lost all ways. Can anyone help and guide me where to go from here.
That is actually nonsense when it comes to financial hardship since the branches do not get hit by any way over targets on refunds.
Let's go back to the beginning, do you have priority debt arrears(mortgage or rent, council tax, utilities)?0 -
Hi,
Just after some advice. I sent of my first letter reclaming charges from the Abbey on 21st September and some copies of my debt arrear letters. I had a letter back from them giving the usual stuff about the court case etc, then a week later i had £195 in my account from the bank without anything in writing appearing til the week after, this was a 'goodwill gesture'. I contacted them again and said i appreciate their goodwill gesture as a partial settlement and sent a figure i would be happy to settle on. I was claming for £1080 without interest, £1275 with interest. They then asked me to fill in an I and E form which i did and returned, i was told they aim to resolve it within 15 working days but could take longer.
The 15 working days was up last wednesday and when i called them, nothing had been done. After reading the advice on here, i should give them 8 weeks before going to FOS. Is that from my 21st September letter or the one after my goodwill gesture? They've already accepted i'm in financial hardship, i'm a single parent with 2 children, i could really do with clearing some debts before they get more serious!0 -
hi, I am in 1500 pounds debt with the bank of scotland due to bank charges. Have just arrived home after spending a year in australia where i racked up the debt. I was unaware that i was in an unauthorised overdraft, the amount actually spent was about 400 quid which i am more than happy to pay. I had another account with them which they have closed without my consent, and taken the contents. Cheeky !!!!!!s. Anyway, any advice as to what steps i should take towards waivering these charges would be greatly appreciated.

Hi...
I sent letters for hardship and filled in the forms and received a letter today saying we aren't in hardship.....We are in arrears with our mortgage and out mortgage company has taken it to court... My husband has money taken out of his wages to pay our council tax as we fell behind with payments and a loan gets paid out of his wages aswell...
Do you think I've got a case to write to them again and asking to overturn it...0 -

Do you have credit card debts, store cards, catalogue accounts?0 -

I would consider closing it and starting again but not sure who would let me have an account at the moment - I've been declined a Credit card as I was wanting to do a balance transfer to sort some of this out. Also if I closed it I just see it as more debt to pay off. It's confusing.
I will follow the procedrue of claiming Credit card charges - unfortunately due to bank charges I had to pay some rent on my Credit Card.0
