  • Hi Folks

Just a little rant here regarding common financial statements etc. The bank, well Halifax anyway ask you to fill these in when they can clearly see ( from my account anyway) the monthly incomes / outgoings without the need for printing it all off the online banking site and then sending it. Perhaps a time wasting technique here.

Do they think that we deliberately let direct debits bounce so that we have to pay charges or am I missing something here???

I have now switched to RBS who from the beginning of October are changing their charges to a more modest fee of £5 for returning a DD unpaid which I think is more realistic and should have them increasing their customer base, the Halifax currently charge £35 but are not reducing their charges. Well done RBS:T

The above is about financial hardship and if you see the post above this one it has a link to legal beagles with the I&E form specific to Abbey.

    thanks but
WE've recently had to increase our overdraught to pay off MORE CHARGES!! we;ve incurred .. also got a £1000 water,£1000council tax,£1000 housing benefits bill to pay.. so i sent another letter with these added to our existing debts...we also had more outgoings than ingoings for 2 months running..(the reason they didnt listen last time was we had more going in than out)

we have a court summons for the council tax... what about these?

Can I ask for your help? Which address did you respond to with regards to financial hardship letters?
Have you got a link to their online I&E form(cos that would be useful to know)?

Under the FSA Waiver on Bank charges they have to assess you for financial hardship and that means an I&E form. Been trying to get hold of those things to reduce delays but still awaiting the one on Halifax so I thought I ask ya.

Add the court summons, copy of, to the details as well cos that IS a priority debt and urgent.

Please do not tell me you rejected the offer. Please negotiate because at least you get something rather than nothing.

  • Hi all

sorry to ask but i wondered if anyone could offer me advice on my situation, especially if they have had a similar situation.

i put a bank charge claim in a couple of years ago with HSBC for around £3k. It has been put on hold whilst the banks court case goes through.

i have since split up with my girlfriend and ended up on an IVA (debts run up whilst in that relationship). I am managing to pay all my bills at present (not with the greatest of ease) but wondered if i could/should get my bank charge file reopened under the financial hardship thing.

Is it likely to help my case as i am on an IVA, or will they see it as i am paying what i can afford and therefore am not under "financial hardship"?

I was wanting to use this money to see if i can end my IVA early.

    cheers

Do you have priority debt arrears(mortgage/rent, council tax, utilities)?

  • hi guys, its been a long time since i last posted about bank charges, and im a bit rusty on the latest news as to whats going on after big success with barclays few years ago and halifax last year.
my problem now is that after being self employed for last 3yrs i am now out of work and only recently claiming job seekers allowance (still awaiting my first payment).
i made a claim for bank charges due to financial hardship with halifax last year(and got them) and since then i have had more charges on my account, and when ever i call and ask about them waving any charges they say NO as i have made a claim b4. surely this shouldnt matter and they should still pay me back!
and now that i am on JSA i am under the impression they are not allowed to toutch the money as it is government benefit.

anyone help me please? realy strapped for cash and not coping with increasing bills!

    many thanks Dave
