    Hi
    Can anyone advise me.
I started my claim with Halifax, then went into hardship and filled out all the financial statements.
Then they said someone from the manangement team would contact me to see if they could help which i knew they couldn't so she went back to them and said there was nothing she could do.
My claim is for £4756.00 and they offered me £105.00 cause i was in hardship which i spoke to someone and said i didn't want to accept that because it didn't even cover the cost of the bank charges they had levied on me that month alone and she said well it's up to her.
I told her i'd already been in touch with the FO and they have everything on file and i would get in touch with them and let them know what they had offered me.................was i right to reject this offer or not as it will not clear me from getting bank charges every month?
    Any advise
    Thanks
    Thaninstone:confused:

I personally would have negotiated with them and asked them to send you a final response letter which should outline why they have decided on £105.00 which they do not appear to have done.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

  • The straight forward answer is yes they can since the charges have to be repaid into the account where the funds have come from. That is a pretty good letter and they have gone back further than most. Can I ask which bank it was?

The remaining charges remain on the table until the conclusion of the OFT test case issues.

Thank you very much for your advice, i am now greatful for the amount they gave me.

The Bank was Nationwide, and i dint really have any problems reclaiming, it was fairly easy.

I was recently toldby Lloyds TSB that i was going to be classed as a hardship case following a recent change of jobs and therefore a delay in salary payment thus resulting in bank charges...however i was told i would be classes as hardship and have today been told that yea i may be classed as hardship but i am still on hold regardless of what i think the fsa say about hardship cases, the lady on the phone did say that she would send me out an income and expenditure form never the less and i was to fill this in and send it back...so were do i gofrom here?? i have already filled my complaint with the FOS and got a letter of receipt from them on the 21st july 08 acknowledging the info i sent them and saying they would be in touch. Does anyone know how long it normally takes..im sur ei am understanding it correct in that hardship cases are meant to be not on hold as such??
I wrote to Lloyds tsb with no luck. I am waiting to hear from the FOS, i have been waiting about 3 and half months. Apparently Lloyds TSB havent got back to them yet. Think they are just hanging on till Sept/Oct.

In that case, that explains the letter. They are pretty good outlining their reasons for a payout or not paying out.

  • Simon, you may be angry but the letters are informing you and are FSA Compliant(once you get through the parts that you think are B.S then you get to cream ie what they are going to do with your claim).
Hi, yes, angry is certainly one way of putting it, but maybe I was sensationalising it all a bit. It is frustrating when you take time to correspond with companies and you get a stock response. When I said that we (I) did not care about the legalities, I didn't explain myself. As I have done, I would thoroughly advise that everyone seeking to reclaim charges fully understands the process before doing anything about it, but when you get into the middle of the process,as I am at the moment and no doubt thousands of others are, you at the very least want your progress acknowledged with more than a different date at the top of the correspondence. Having the details regurgitated back at you with an identically terse letter time after time is no consolation for circumstance and effort. I have patience, I need it, though I understand enough to realise that the banks aren't entitled to do anything, but I also understand that whilst the banks are citing very carefully every angle of the waiver to show they are not required to do anything for their customers yet, in the same spirit there are oppertunistic individuals like myself who are taking a stand and declaring that there might be something that can be done.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

  • I put my claim in about three weeks ago and just checked my account online and Barclays have credited me £1590! I followed all the steps and included a copy of my housing benefit letter, a letter from Monument credit card saying they were canceling my card, an overdue Orane Phone bill demand and a letter from the Job centre to prove I was on Job Seekers. They wrote back two weeks later sayin they would investigate further and gave me a ref number and then today I checked and it had all gone through. It is short of about £200 but with the bills mounting up and money now owing to family I will leave it there. It seems that it is all about proof. I gave so many document that I don't think anyone could deny my hardship status. Thanks Martin you are a wonderful wonderful man.

Well said, they drive you round the bend with their underhand tactics!
I have just been on the phone to them regarding my hardship claim form and when i came off the phone i thought my wife had just pulled up in the car, i remebered i needed some info off her regarding the claim form and rushed out, and then looking around to see where she had gone. After some thought, and coming back to reality, i realised that i had droppedd her off at work before 9am and returned to the house with the car myself, alone.:mad:_pale_

It's affecting my sleep and sometimes i'm experiencing derealization.

  • Have been struggling to get RBS/Nat West to do anything other than stonewall me for months. Recently got a phone number for the office in Edinburgh that is dealing with all the claims (previously fobbed off by people on an 0845 number). Amazing response, all sorted within 8 hours. I suspect they will change the number after the first few dozen calls but good luck 01315234169 (worth 12k to me)
  • LLOYDSTSB love to ignore long standing customers. Both myself and husband are now unemployed i am on incapacity benefit and he is on jobseekers (both through redundancy)LLoyds have had our combined wages into our accounts for over 25 years however they chose to ignore our requests for a refund of our bank charges saying that we were no longer customers and then sent us a booklet on how to manage our accounts. It is just laughable especially as today in the Sun RBS Natwest have said that they are reducing their fees to just £5.
Are LLOYDS just waiting to get enough interest on everyones fees knowing full well they will have to give them back sooner or later. We are still trying to get replies but they ingore us.
