Have been trying to get £3800+ back from Nationwide using the hardship route.
Filled out all the forms, and got an answer from them today :-)
Theyve refunded £980 into my account and cancelled a recent overdraft charge of £20.... wiping out the negative balance and leaving me £35 ish in credit
I rang them to query why so little and was told that even though I had said I am living on hand outs from friends and selling my personal stuff its classed as income so no joy.
The last credit into my account was march 2008 (from paypal) selling your own belongings and car to buy food and try and pay off the mortgage is income so not evidence of hardship.
Am totally destroyed now. Made a complete fool of myself by blubbing down the phone and am filling up again now. Am in court tomorrow to try and stop repossession of my home (for less than 2 months missed payments), have no benefits income (my last boss ran off with my NI contributions) can't work now due to poor health and entitled to nothing as my hubby is self employed with a failing business.
Nationwide said they'd reassess the case as I did state the income was from the sale of my personal belongings but said those were their rules.
Anyone know how much paracetamol I can buy for £35 cos I really don't feel I can go on much longer - sardonic comment but I do feel so tired now of trying to fight every one. Our gas has been cut off - we still have power luckily as I need to ued electrical medical devices to stay alive at night.
Our council are sending in the bailiffs for council tax if I don't pay them £169 a month.
No one wants to help us as we dont have kids - we're not a priority. Haven't even got a car left to sleep in anymore :-(
has anyone got any ideas of what w can do or where we can go to for practical help?0 -

firstly contact shelter - 0808 800 4444 tonight (they are there till 8) and talk with them
Less than 2 months they wont get reposession - who is the lender ?
Have you been in discussions with the lender re paying off arrears ?
Do you have an income expenditure sheet sorted to take with you tomorrow ?
make sure this is okay first then look at the hardship case
Let me know once you have spoken to shelter and what they say - you can pm me on here or email me admin@legalbeagles.info and we can go through the rest of the debts and your income expenditure and get you back in control of things a bit, push the bank harder on the hardship front and see what your options are.LegalBeagles0 -

Oh thank you! Yes I will email you very shortly!
I spoke to shelter and they have given me details of what to say - I am going for reducing my mort from £1132 to £800 a month for 3 months then review it and asking the court to to kick the action out as its only 2 months worth. Shelter reckon the court will go for a suspended order but its worth asking them to kick it out.
My lender is GE Money. Have to say they have been helpful as far as they can and we have always paid at least £650 every month. hey seem to be getting jittry. I really needed that Nationwide payment :-(0 -
brilliant - told you they were the people to talk to. lol. suspended isnt too bad so long as you can stick to the plan.
The nationwide payment would have plugged a hole temporarily - you need to be looking more long term really. We can try again with them but also look at the overall situation so you don't end up back here in a couple months.
Look forward to hearing from youLegalBeagles0 -

Help- i have completed the income questionare with regards to being in hardship, and finally recieved a reply stating that they will arrange a money management team to discuss my situation and advise on how to manage better- i am thinking they didn't read my income form better as it showed that i am currently surviving on less than actually is coming in by nearly £300 per month. So should i wait for them to contact me or writs back stating that i am now going to the ombusman as i feel the bank is ignoring my pleas.
Please advise as they have given me a 8 week limit to reply0 -

Do you have priority debt arrears(mortgage/rent, council tax, utilities)?
Are any of the arrears being paid off?0 -
