    Hi all
I put in an application for financial hardship with halifax they roughly have charged me over £1000 in the last 2 years. I sent the form back to them about 4 weeks ago and got a reply back today saying that that my case will stay on hold, looks like a standard letter as they dont directly comfirm what my complaint was about. wat can i do now???do i have to just wait???
    many thanks
Did you send an income and expenditure form with the letter?
Did you send copies of priority debt arrears(mortgage/rent, council tax, utilities)?

Got a letter from !!!!!!! nationwide stating that they shall not be refunding the charges on my account. As already mentioned, they seem to have ignored my request for details of my now defunct current account with them which actually has the most charges on

    I HATE nationwide so much.

just got my reply from Nationwide as to why i got into hardship it reads.
Thank you for returning the completed Statement of means.
My investigations are going well, though they are taking a little longer than anticipated. I should be able to send a full respnonse by 30th August, so please bear with me until then. This is quite unbelieveable why should it take so long. I am going to pass this straight on to the FSA. as my hardship has just got worse know I am redundant.

Have they outlined why they do not or will not deal with the case now since they will deal with it once the OFT test case issues are resolved.

I was recently toldby Lloyds TSB that i was going to be classed as a hardship case following a recent change of jobs and therefore a delay in salary payment thus resulting in bank charges...however i was told i would be classes as hardship and have today been told that yea i may be classed as hardship but i am still on hold regardless of what i think the fsa say about hardship cases, the lady on the phone did say that she would send me out an income and expenditure form never the less and i was to fill this in and send it back...so were do i gofrom here?? i have already filled my complaint with the FOS and got a letter of receipt from them on the 21st july 08 acknowledging the info i sent them and saying they would be in touch. Does anyone know how long it normally takes..im sur ei am understanding it correct in that hardship cases are meant to be not on hold as such??
No, hardship cases are not on hold. mine was with abbey and lloyds tsb. Lloyds told me to get stuffed and wait. Abbey gave me £450 and said if that wasnt enough to get in touch with them. So thats what i have done. Still waiting. they owe me another £500.
  • I have read all these bank charges, insurance for loans and charges for credit card.
    My question is

Can I write to get these charges from my banks even though I am on IVA at present?

    Please help me please.

    Thank you....

  • Hi natweststaffmember. Sorry for the delay in replying. I am actually now in more hardship than ever, as I am now on emplyment support allowance due to a heel ligament problem which is stopping me from working as a childminder temporarily. I am very lucky in lots of ways as I have just agreed with HBOS on charges incurred from them on a closed account, and they have paid my mortgage arrears direct to the mortgage company, so thats one less priority debt. They also paid off my HBOS credit card, and I have closed this account, but this is not a prioiry debt (as you know). I asked them to cover the council tax instead, which was £2k less aprox, but they wouldn't do this, and to be honest, as they had agreed to pay the 3 months in arrears that I am behind, I was happy to have that weight lifted off my shoulders.
However I am still £900 behind on a previous years council tax, with a final demand, behind on my as bill, which I have an agreement in place, but cannot meet this months payment due to illness. Also I have approx £1500 water bill which has a CCJ on, and a statutory demand on that. I am paying £50 a month, plus I still need to pay the current bill of around £40.
HSBC covered 2 months of priority debt monthly payments, and said I could go back to request a 2nd time if things had not improved.
Have you got an email address for their customer relations team? I really felt like blowing up, as the guy I spoke to was soooo arrogant. He was surely breaking the rules as he would NOT let me talk to a manager.
Trying to get out of debt......it's a slow but satisfying road! :j

  • Have a look back at post 1509 which kinda gives the way in which HSBC decide on their cases.

The above is their budget planner which I would fill in in conjunction with the way that they are deciding. Remember though you have had a change in circumstances again so you can write to them and ask them to reconsider it.
The telephone number is 0845 6006423 and is available Monday to Friday - 08:00 to 18:00.
The above is the phone number you can call but there is nothing that you will be able to do tomorrow so on monday at 8am give em a call.
