Possible stupid wireless router question

    Well if she can't be bothered to RTFM and chooses to follow the advice from someone who clearly know very little about the subject!

    Have you read the manual? I just have and the section on setting up wireless ends with the following line (on page 15):

    "9 . Program the wireless adapter of your computers to have the same wireless network name (SSID) as the router. Check that they have a wireless link and are able to obtain an IP address by DHCP from the router."

    This is the last step. Now for someone who has admitted she doesn't understand computers, this is a too technical and full or acronyms.

    The next section on wireless security lists the types of security available (WEP, WPA, etc) but doesn't explain them, which one to choose and there is no mention of setting anything on your laptops settings to match.

    Overall, the manual isn't the most helpful I have ever read.:wall:

    And since you know so much about the subject, maybe you could have been more helpful instead of just telling her to RTFM!
