Possible stupid wireless router question

I know there are other wireless threads at the moment but I've had a look and none seem to answer my question.
I've recently bought a Sony Vaio VGN-NR32L and have bought a NETGEAR wireless router to use with it. I can set the router up to use with the USB adapter that also came with the router, but can I set it up somehow to use the net without it? There are 2 CD roms, one for use with the adapter and one that has "Wireless-G Router WGR614 v9" written on it. I've tried using the second CD-rom but it seems very complicated, telling me to turn one thing on for 2 minutes and then something else for one minute, and then a page comes up asking me for all sorts of information that I don't have a clue about
Please can someone help me - is there a webiste with an idiots guide please!

Assuming you're using Vista and your laptop has a wireless card, you can follow these instructions to set up a wireless network:

I'm using Vista, but my laptop didn't come with a wireless card, should it have? There is a slot in the front with SD on it, I'm assuming that that is where the card would go???Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0

Your PC has wireless built-in. see spec here where it says Wireless LAN Type 802.11b/g
If you have installed the USB dongle software, you should have read your Sony manual first as it was not the best thing to do!

Read the first post!
The OP has foolishly installed the USB wireless dongle that came with the router. This needs to be un-installed and the user manuals need to be read. It's easy if you actually read the instructions. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
