They're still in business, I believe Richard Branson has put his hat in the ring with Virgin Money taking them over at some point. But for now Northern Rock are still going.

Hi, im just doing the credit file clean up and looking to send the letters to previous crediors, i am stuck, where it says Re: Account Number xxxxxxxxxxx, what do i put? my current account bank account number? cos i cant remember the bank acc i used previously.

You need the account /ref number for whatever debt you are trying to correct.

If you are writing to the original creditor, then you need the account number. If it's been sold to a debt collector then you need the account number or their ref number for the debt.

If you don't have it, then your OR may well do. It may have been on your BR petition, or the OR may have had notification of it while deling with your case.

If all else fails, then you can just write giving enough details that would allow the creditor to uniquely identify the account.

Give it a couple of months after your discharge:)

Hi,

I just spoke to creditExpert regarding my file and they said i should send them a copy of my bankruptcy discharge and send it to the other credit ref companys to, rather then sending a letter to all previous crediors, and they would clean up my file,

does this sound ok?

In a word no, the CRA`S will only update your file when informed to by your creditors.
