I have two accounts with Orange (mobile phones) on my Credit file which started in 2001 and were covered by my IVA which started May 2003.

Now, neither accounts were marked as 'DEFAULTED' but marked as 'SETTLED' in 2005, all good so far. BUT, on my Equifax credit file they show missed payments from 2002/2003 whereas on my Experian file the repayment history does not go back so far.

So my question is: how will these missed payments in 2002/2003 affect my ability to get credit today? Should I ask Equifax to mark these 'SETTLED' Orange entries as 'DEFAULTED' so that they are removed in May 2009? Seems like a step backwards in order to move forwards to me.

thanks for all the help you all give in here as it's so great and has helped me massively!

there's just one thing i'm still trying to find if someone that knew could be so kind as to help...

i can't locate the data controller for barclaycard. when i search, clysedale bank comes up?! or BARCLAYCARD STERIA PARTNERSHIP LTD. is either of those the correct address?

also, i have a debt on my account which i know to be a goldfish card, but it's showing on my reports as 'Barclaycard Centre (I)'... who would i write to about it?!

thanks again! really is very appreciated :T

Davey, there is a thread on the Bank Reclaim Charges board and there are all the most up to date Data Controller addresses on there so its a good place to start. Will have a root around.

Barclays bought Goldfish in 2008. So Barclays Bank PLC will be the Data controller now. Write to both of them to be on the safe side!

    Barclays Bank;

    Barclays Data Protection
    Radbroke Hall
    Knutsford
    Cheshire
    WA16 9EU

    Barclaycard

    Data Protection Team
    Dept LRC
    Barclaycard
    Northampton

    Hi Fermi,
Sorry to sound dumb here, I've got my credit report from Experian, the majority of my defaults are correct, those that aren't are only out by 7 days max, but the only accounts marked satisfied are my 2 CapOne ones, all the others still have an outstanding balance.

Is there a template letter I need to send to customers services first, or do I go straight in with the letter in post #2 of the sticky, even though it says:
Currently the information that you have recorded against my name with the Credit Reference Agencies is factually incorrect, and despite several written requests to your customer services , as yet your company has failed to correct the entries as required.

    TIA

Go straight for the throat Peachy. :D

The creditors know the rules, but choose to ignore them.

They will have been informed of the BR by the OR so have no excuse. ;)

Thanks Fermi, looks like I have alot of letters to write

One other query, don't know if you'll be able to help, on my credit file under the 'linked addresses' section there is an entry that has been submitted by Halifax Card Services for someone with a similar name to me (different middle name) and an address I have never lived at. I have reason to believe this may be the person who was making fraudulent applications in my name back in 2007 (damn fools, they wouldn't have got far:D). Halifax are being very unhelpful as an account wasn't actually opened they can't help me, any ideas how I can get this removed from my credit file, I've got enough problems without being linked to fraud too

    TIA

    A question.

Almost all of my defaults are from mid 2006 sometime on my CRFs. But they are all still listed as a default and have an amount outstanding next to them.

If I were to write to them all they would change the defaults to Feb 2008 (BR date) wouldn't they? Although the amount owing should then be zero.

As I am not going to by applying for any major credit in the next few years, if I just leave my CRFs alone then the defaults will drop off mid 2012??? If I write to update them, then they wont drop off until Feb 2014?? I know that they are supposed to update the CRFs (and if they do, then they do) but am I under any obligation to inform them??

Hypothetically then, *if* I got to late 2012 and something in my BR dropped off mid 2012 (because I did not write to change the date/details) could they re-default it????
