Left it till about a month or so after discharge with mine...gives the credit agencies time to catch upWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

Im newly registered but been a reader for years, shame on me considering I run a few forums of my own lol
My BR was discharged in May 2006 and I have had a nationwide account since around that date. Always had a healthy bank balance with no dd missing etc and I have tried to upgrade it a few times to get an electron or visa debit but always said no.
I assumed it was because of my BR but only now I have checked my file and there are 9 default notices on my file! All with incorrect dates even some with 2008 on them! All with incorrect outstanding balances too. Some companies had updated it fine. In the case of halifax they updated one account but not the other!
So do I need to write to these 9 companies in question or is it the credit agency?
Thanks0 -
You'll need to write to the companies involved enclosing a copy of your bankruptcy discharge paperwork.....if they refuse to ammend the details then you'll need to contact the information commisioners office to lodge a complaintWe all die. Just discovered this thread I must be blind! I have posted on a seperate thread re my sucessful credit file clean up. my final problem is now my file is correct all debts settled or satisfied, two years since early discharge. I really want a debit card. Should I go back to Nationwide who were never a creditor but refused me a card 6 months ago before clean up. Will they say yes now and do I need to wait 6 months to reapply? Should I apply at the branch or speak to the person in lending who removed the mistaken default from my file? Is it better to open a new account or upgrade my existing one? Help! I am so close but so far!

Problem is most current accounts are credit checked....because of the bankruptcy sitting on your file for 6yrs you'll almost certainly fail
bear in mind as well if you keep applying for accounts it as well shows on your files & some banks get a little worried
My credit files are squeeky clean now after 2yrs of discharge & they'll still not offer me an account either so your not aloneWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
Hey nickc25, You need to do what I have just done it took 4 months loads of letters and a million phone calls....but I did it ALL! My credit file is now correct. Please pray that the man at nationwide will say YES I really want my debit card back. This is the last step to not feeling BR anymore.0

Thanks for the advice. In that case I will go back to lady who removed the incorrect default (she had the power!) and ask her how to get my debit card back if she says it will always be no because of BR full stop, then will have to try co op. I really do not want another 4 years with no debit card. I get so nervous doing the food shopping that I do not have enough cash on me. I am getting really panicky when shopping crazy as I have enough money in the bank.0
