thanks tesscha! like ive said before its not a problem for me to lose the weight ( usually lose about a stone in the first 3 weeks then adout 7lbs in te following three weeks) and then i get boared or lose motivaton and start to creep i back on. I'm now the heaviest I've ever been only by a couple of lbs ( except when i was preggers!) and i can tell coz i have my fat clothes and even they are feeling a bit tight! what makes it even harder is that im 24 and EVERYONE ( well a lot of my friends) are getting married this summer... 12 weddings in the space of 10 weeks!! thats alot of cake!!
Diet will start tomorrow!! see you all soon and i think u are all doing really well ( much better thewn i would / will) :-)I can only please one person a day.... Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either!!very greatful for almost everything i read on MSE (except for the nasties!)0 -
I was just off to bed when I saw your reply skintlynne. I was actually going to describe what they were on my menu but I thought I was going on a bit.
Ackee is a fruit - but it's not sweet and we cook with it much like a vegetable. It's very soft and looks a lot like scrambled eggs if it gets too mushed up. It's the national dish of Jamaica and is cooked along with salted cod or saltfish as we call it.
You can check out a site called Jamaicans.com where they have recipes on there. You can pick up tinned ackee in some supermarkets or asian grocers where there may be a population of Jamaicans around!!!0 -
Thanks Tesscha,
There's a jamacian fruit shop in Glasgow called Solly's, I'm sure he will have it.
I'll let you know how I get on.

Morning all, nice to see this thread thriving again!
so, before I get my head down to work, I'll say hi to you all
Lyn - So sorry about poorly, I have never experienced anything like this but I know not to judge, and I am thinking of you ((hugs))
Tara - Welcome back hon!! Nice to 'see' you again. I'm with you on the chocolate thing.... arrgh!
Ghosthunter I too am married with no kids, and OH and I have the same problem, if we dont buy it, we dont eat it - but I cant stand the thought of having no munchies in!! OH is more overweight than me - but I try not to have a go when he eats stuff because I am just as bad really; just because he's heavier than I am is not an excuse for my lack of self controll:o!!
Tescha - How lovely to leave early and go get beautified, I hope you're pleased with the result?! I on the other hand had a row with my work colleagues:eek: and ended up in tears at my desk... I really aught to look for another job....
Tanpopo - Your curry receipe looks amazing and I cant wait to give it a try... we'll see if OH thinks it's as good as Lloyd Grossman.. (he better had....:D )
Bluejeans - Jo, I'll say it again, thank you for starting this thread, I think it's great that you are honest with us and accept help and advice while still encouraging us all along as well! I certainly am a bit of a bargain freak - we planned our own wedding 2 years ago, and I found fold up napkins in the 99p shop round the corner, 99p for a box of 50!! I bought 6 boxes, enough for all the tables, in exactly the same colour as my bridesmaids dresses!! I came home and was dancing round yelling '99p 99p 99p' - my family wont let me forget it:o
Now, I really have to get my head down to work now... too much to do, too little time. I hope you all have a great day today!

I don't envy you girl - I enjoy weddings but it's the only time when I have to really concentrate on what I have to look like and that means spending too much money. Oooh and I love cakeworst of all I bake them too but have been too lazy to do anything plus my oven was on the blink. Are you going to all of the weddings?

Hi Tesscha,
You can go for your 5 a day without really trying that hard, eg:
orange juice along with your breakfast. You could even go for a chopped banana inside your crossiant in the morning.
lunch: maybe a salad roll or some veg along with your macaroni, eg mushrooms and green beans.
snacks: maybe some raisins instead of choccy bar, they are very sweet.
dinner: HM soup is good as there is lots of veg in that. I love green beans and carrots, they go along with most meals.
I try and do these things, it doesn't always work but all you can do is give it a go. If you are good you can have a treat at the weekend.
