over spend and over eat

Yesterday I was gagging for chocolate after I had my dinner - but good thing there wasn't any in the house. I didn't eat much yesterday because my house is like a battle field because my sister and OH don't get on. It's a long story, but it's really stressing me out so I'm going to Worthing next week for a break with my cousin and her 3 chipmunks.
Puzzledbubbles - I take my hat off to you; I'm currently at 19.7lbs and I'm going nowhere fast. I've been on so many diets that I'm fed up with them. My problem is that once I feel like I'm depriving myself I end up giving up and gorging myself. I'm hoping that baring my soul on here will help me. It would be good to hear from you - because you've inspired me and made me feel like there is hope for me. Maybe sharing some of your tips would help me even more "lol"
Bluejeans - it's good to hear that you're getting over that mountain of a situation, I'm only able to survive because my husband gave me some money for my credit card and I've kept some of it in my account otherwise I'd be overdrawn over my overdraft.
Skintlynne - It's funny a colleague and I were talking about loved ones who are stuggling with alcohol yesterday. Thanks for giving me insight and yes it's important that we don't judge as we all know that there are many things that we struggle with and mine is food!

Hi Tess, I am too,but cant resist sneaky peeks on here...Where abouts are you?
I'm having a 'mingin' time at work at the moment, which yesterday drove me to eat a snickers, a packet of crisps, half a french baguette, apple juice and some cookies:eek: However today it is making me feel sick, so I will make up for yesterday by not eating anything until I get home.. neither of which is good for me or my diet:o
Here's hoping things pick up soon:TPersonal challenge: Do without as much as possible to pay off £12k by 07/2009!!!:T

Hey Bargainfinder, as you can tell - I am also flicking back to this page every so often. I work and live in South London - and I drive to work so no exercise for me. I feel like I deserve to eat crap at the moment because homelife is not great and I'm due on! I have beside me a pack of 9 Twix and chocolate biscuits which I bought yesterday but haven't opened yet...but they will be soon.0

Anyway, poorly has been having a lot of problems, found him passed out on the kitchen floor on Monday night, so was up at the hospital until the small hours. They let him out on Tuesday morning, I could not believe it, however, he has been better, he went to his work today to hand in his sick lines and the boss is going to try and get him some help. He seemed a lot calmer when I saw him this afternoon, hopefully he will not touch anything tonight. This whole episode has let me see that a drunk is not just some wee dosser you would see in town crashed out on the pavement, it can happen to anyone. My family member is a respected member of the community and has a really good job, he can earn £2000 per week, yes per week!!! I will be more sympathetic with people with drink problems in the future.
I just hope that he can sort it because he stands to lose a lot if he can't get out of it.
And I think I have problems, the only thing wrong in my life is lack of money, I'm glad I don't have anything like that to deal with as well.

Hi - wandered across this thread by chance - you may already read the thread but I've not seen you post on it - there's a giving up/cutting down alcohol support thread, although it's a family member not yourself they will still give you excellent advice & support, good luck0 -
I am so glad I found this thread :j
This is one of the reasons I am in debt: excessive and impulsive spending on nice food and treats! It is no coincidence indeed that pounds = £££.
I'd have a fridge full of food, but still go out and buy a pizza -- not any more as I have just majorly overhauled my food buying lifestyle, which includes not buying lunch at work (was spending ~£20 a week ) and stocking up my cupboard with ingredients that can turn old veg in the fridge into quick meals!
I have just discovered how cheap it is to turn anything into a delicious and authentic curry if you have the right dry spices bought cheap from one of the Indian supermarkets (30p for large bags that last aaaages!). On my list of essential curry ingredients are:
- garlic and ginger
- mustard seeds
- chilli powder
- turmeric
- cumin powder
- coriander powder
My favorite skint meal for 2 is to make "Chora daal" which is basically a curry using a tablespoon of all the ingredients above plus some value tinned tomatoes, dried black-eyed beans (cheap from the Indian supermarket, soaked during the day and boiled for 20 minutes) and 5 chopped mushrooms.
Cheep, quick, delicious and healthy!0 -

Have you given in to the Twix's yet?? They wouldn't last long next to me at the moment!:rotfl:Personal challenge: Do without as much as possible to pay off £12k by 07/2009!!!:T

to update, I'm down to 7 .57. but if anyone had told me i could manage on this amount of money 2 weeks ago i would have laughed in there face. But this situation has just made me more determined to do this. I have done without everything this week and planned out meals and bought just essentials. I am AMAZED AT WHAT I CAN LIVE WITHOUT. Nothing bad has happened to me. I am still breathing and walking about. I am moving without a doubt in the opposite direction. I am looking at all kinds of sites on the net for house holds tips, frugal living, cheap delicious recipes. the old style board on here is very good. So no doubt i Will be posting bits n bobs of my money saving tips, that i collect on the way.
