I bought one from Eastleigh, then went to Southampton..
IT came up at £479.
Told the lady that it was £319, and had already bought one for my mum.
She called her supervisor, who said to me "you didnt ring and reserve today did you!!!" in front of a queue of about 20 people now. Made me look like I was a crap criminal or something.
Im very placid , but took offence to that kind of customer service. I informed her that I didnt like being called a liar, without swearing etc.. and she said that she just wudnt serve me if i continued like that.
I told her that I had a receipt for Eastleigh, and it was £319 on their till if she would check. She wouldnt. Told her it was £319 on ring and reserve, but she wouldnt check. Even offered to call from my mobile, but she refused that too.
She then told me I had to go back to my car to get my receipt.
Did that, and waited a further 30mins whilst she went out back (had to repay parking in between) before she came out, and refused to honour it.
I stated that it was £319 on the R&R, and that I had phoned and driven straight down. Still not good enough for her.
She told me she could do internet "special" price of £449.. I said no thanks.
Told me that T&C's are that the price is the price instore on the day. I told her that was the internet T&C's , and that R&R states, that "this is the price that you will pay today instore £319 (which it does say). She refused to believe me over that as well.
I insisted to her that it was against consumer rights. I also said to her that in that case they may as well advertise everything at 50p and get everybody in, then flog at higher prices.
Asked her about why I had to drive straight here, and that I should surely be allowed the price on their R&R that it is STILL stating at £319 in store TODAY.
She wouldnt budge.
Then she lied and said that the system couldnt be overridden, until I informed her that I already knew others had their prices changed in other stores.

In the end I had to leave it.

Am I better off contacting their HO? Or going through trading standards or somthing.
You phone up, they tell you that this price IS THE PRICE YOU WILL PAY INSTORE TODAY. Yet they then flatly refuse.

She never even apologised for branding me a liar... twice.

I think you have to Buy the item first from Currys, then try to claim a refund of the difference.

You have to prove to Currys that you could have got the item cheaper elsewhere! The difficulty is that the Argos price is not advertised anywhere - it's not online (so you couldn't print a screen shot) and there are no catalogues or flyers with this price.

I think the person who got this refund was lucky because they could actually walk next door to the Argos store to show them the price! I can't see this working anywhere else!!!

I bought two earlier in Birmingham for £319 each and asked the store two reserve me another two in Swindon, got to Swindon tonight and the price has been adjusted back to £469, I almost fell over when the cashier said how much the corrected price was. I left them :-)

Even though the R&R quoted it as only being £319 they don't legally have to sell them to you at that price, as misleading as it is, its only an offer, "invitation to treat" only when you are about to pay does it become a "contract" Hence Argos told you the new price and you declind. Most companies would offer the product at the advertised price as a good will gesture thats all.

ring and reserve price is still at 319.99 BUT there appears to be a technical error in resserving them,lol yeah right.

also on the website at 469.99 it says in stock at my local branch,but mysteriously not in stock when you phone to reserve at 319.99 cheeky buggers!

I was lucky enough to be given a reserve code by xueta (thanks!)

Buuut they treated me like a criminal! They said I couldnt have it at £319 and the price was £469, I argued for ages and the manager went and did some phone calls.

Finally he went over to an assistant who then called me over and put it throgh at £319, but the manager never even acknowledged me!

Anyway its now in my loft, a lovely gift for my daughter at Christmas, thanks op!

Got mine no problem.I rang and reserved it and it was the same price in store too.Fortunately my local store are clueless at the best of times but we keeped expecting someone to jump out shouting "STOP !!! " .But they never so we ran to our car and sped up the road.Phew !
