Maybe the unit is faulty ?.
I would try another one before you throw the towel in.

No we previousily had the tomtom300 with the same problem.Were we stay there was 20 street names totally wrong.Fortunately argos took the tomtom500 we gor mispriced back today, the unit went faulty in that .If the street names were acurate it would have been great but I was told it is the same company who do google maps- so my advice is to check google maps first to see how acurate the map information is for your area.We were getting taking down dirt tracks by it !0
