Recently wore a pair of my best shoes to an event, but the weather here in England took a total turn for the worst at that moment. What was a glorious day turned into a soaking wet muddy one.

By the time I got home, the shore were wrecked. I washed them, using a cloth and hot water. But I didnt realise that it would stink so badly after being dried.

They absolutely reek, I have tried the general deodorant trick, doesn't work.

Any suggestions? Someone online told me this board had a ton of ideas in an old thread he looked at, but he couldn't find the link.

    Thanks for the advice!

I was going to suggest bicarb also. Sprinkle inside, put in bag and tie knot in bag, freeze for 48 hours, remove from bag and bang out any bicarb leftover.

I also use bicarbonate of soda. brush it in with a soft brush - leave it a little while then hoover out. saves using any chemicals and half the price of shoe deodarants
    Every days a School day!
  • Bung in freezer overnight.works like a charm. Try it.
  • best way to get smell off shoes is to put them in a carrier bag and then leave them in the frezzer for a couple of days the cold kills the bacteria that causes the smell

My No.1 son has a real problem with stinky work boots - thanks for those tips. I'll get in touch with his girlfriend with your ideas.

We've cured his smelly feet problem - but of course that's not much use when the boots are so contaminated!

Wonder how much freezer space you need for size 13 steel toe caps :rotfl: .
  • if you put them in the freezer for a couple of days in a plastic bag. the freezing temperatures kill the bacteria that causes the smell. bacteria needs warmth to survive. i saw this tip on tv not so long ago tried it and it works a treat better than any deoderant

  • my son has a bit of a foot odour problem hes been checked for infections but is ok
ive bought several products that will rid the smell from his trainers spending a fortune in the process to find that they dont work
the problem is when his feet are clean there ok but as soon as he puts his feet back in shoes/trainers they stink again
is there any natural remedies out there i could try because the only thing left is to buy him all new shoes and start again which i really cant afford as hes 15 and a size 11

    Hi samarnesen,

There's an earlier thread that should help so I've added your post to it to keep the suggestions together.
