This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as wel
l
Morning all, its friday :j , last day at school for my DD, no lunch box to make up today, as she is going for a buffet chineese at lunch time.
No rain here yet but it looks like it might later  , w**k today then off till next wed, which means no more 6 in the morning starts till then, I love the holidays :j
Going to plant some more potatoes over the weekend, that way hopefully I can be eating my own grown spuds on xmas day :T . Pasta, with panchetta and mushrooms for tea, nice and easy for a friday night, will also be havning my weekend glass of wine or two  .
Hugs to smoky, chrisca, candy squigly, and all in need.
Have good days all xx

Good morning all. RedRuby - you must be typing at the same time!
(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Mrs Mix, Chrisca, Beth and her DBs, Candygirl’s Dad, AnnieStar and all who are in need.
Smoky – take care of yourself with that cold; I hope it doesn’t last long.
PenPin – hope you and OH will be well for the start of your holiday.
Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:
It looks a bit overcast here – again; another day of wondering whether to hang the washing on the line. I found it quite cold yesterday at times - if this carries on we’ll be wanting to put the heating on earlier than usual this autumn and, with the rising prices, that’s something I want to avoid!
I need to do food shopping today; I’ve run a lot of my stores down in the freezer and cupboards so it needs to be quite a big shop plus I must be put some petrol in the car – it has definitely been running on fumes this week. So, where I’ve managed to keep spending to a minimum over the last couple of weeks, today will surely make up for it!
Not sure what’s for dinner yet; I’ll see what I buy and then decide; I might for a breast of lamb in the Remoska – the last time I did lamb in it it was delicious. I emailed Remoska’s website yesterday because I tried one of their recipes and the timing they suggested was way out - sausage and bacon bake in 20 mins, from cold, which actually took 50 minutes. They emailed back very quickly but the emails they sent were obviously internal ones and I don’t think they were intended for me! Anyway, they said the timings were wrong in some of the recipes so I’m expecting an email that is meant for me to explain that! It’s a great little machine but obviously the recipes need to be reliable to make the most of it.
Well, I’m going to have a mooch on here and then grab a shower.
Hope you all have a good day.

Morning redruby!
I was beginning to think nobody was awake this morning and I don't know how to start the thread with all the blurb!:rotfl:
Last day today - office based as finished with pupils yesterday, then six glorious weeks of sunshine...................not!
Going to see OH next week for a fortnight as I think we need the chance to talk face to face. Can't wait really, after almost 4 months and everything that has happened.
Ex-dh coming Sunday to finish off the garden, and a houseful Saturday night - literally just the night - friends using me as a hotel as they have a party up here.
Have a good day, and hugs all round,

Morning.
It looks windy, cold and ready to rain down here. Pretty poor summer so far. Day off for me, but I have no plans at present. I think I may go to Truro for the afternoon as I said I would meet the church Pastor for lunch. I have to pick up a new matress that my parents bought for my daughter this morning, so I think the day is covered. We have friends over this evening for a meal, but I have no idea what to cook yet. It seems a bit of a nuicance day....
My son called from the States last night and he is still having a great time... Said it was 95 degrees.
I told him we had rented his room out..... he seemed worried to being with and then realised that we would not do such a thing.
My uncle came through his surgery OK yesterday, so that was good news.
Well folsk, have a nice oneNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Good Morning All
Overcast here today and think drizzle is forcast so no washing today. DD has her last day of school and it is shutting early, think the bus will be running so no need to go and pick her up. She will probably lay in bed most of the day for the next few days, DS doesnt break up till Wednesday so thats ok.
Will be in the office all day today making up for yesterday. OH is taking the kids to see KungFu Panda at our little independent cinema tonight so I should get loads done. Need to go to work with OH tonight to sort out our employee - he definately has to go, not looking forward to it but with what he's doing we would be mad to let him work any longer.
Catowen - would be lovely if I could get down and see you lot so hopefully when you let me know the dates I can make arrangements.
(((hugs))) to anyone who needs one. Hope you feel better asap Smokey.
x
PS Glad to hear the surgery went well N9eav0 -
Morning early risers
poppyO - all you have to do is start a new thread and copy and paste the sticky - i make it sound so easy but I fluffed it up last time
It was a day of results yesterday - dd got her SATs results but only verbally - look away now if you're not into proud mummy moments - three fives :T - better than predicted for literacy. she wins a ds game from her dad and from me .... well no more asking whether they've come yet. We're going to a party on saturday night so I'm treating her to a new dress and shoes.
The second result was about the interview that I had last week - I didn't get the job - well sort of. I passed the criteria but there was someone slightly better so they got the job. However because it's the civil service and I passed the criteria I am now on the reserve list whatever that means. I emailed HR to find out and was told that the centre manager does want to emply me in the autumn when some new courts openI think it's good news and am treating it as such and will therefore be buying myself something new for the party too. the party is actually at the court that I applied for so, if the centre manager is there, I might get more info.
OS wise - the freezer is busting with yellow sticker delights thanks to a few lucky finds this week. tonight's tea will be a chicken pie that got sadly battered in the bike panniers on the way home but will still be nice I'm sure, folowed by the rest of the finest apple pie that we started last night but definitely no 8p Asda instant custard which was yucky.
have a good day everyoneI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Morning all,
Glad your Uncle came through it ok N9eav. My sister is coming along nicely but seems to be overdoing it a bit. I wish she'd take it a bit slower. I've done a bit of work in the kitchen this morning, ironed & half cut out my pattern. I'm just off to do some yard work. I was going to do it earlier but XDIL said she'd be up for arv tea. She now tells me she's coming tomorrow morning.
Scrubbed the front verandah & path today. It was coated with red mud. It's a pretty depressing job as it will be the same next week. Oh well, good exercise anyway.YS rang up today and had a good chat. He wants me to do his tax as does DD so will tackle that next week.
Bookie is enjoying the start of her holiday. I expect in her haste to pack, she forgot to do a most important task.
PP Very strange that a dept like NHS would admit wrongdoing to a solicitor. Really opens up the floodgates doesn't it. Obviously things are a bit different over there.
Ruby I'll be having my weekend wine shortly.Enjoy yours.
Smoky Get well soon & hope the littlies don't get it. <hugs> to Rzl too.
Well better go out in the yard while it's still warm. Will pop back later. ByeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning all
Hug to Smoky, PenPin, Mrs Mix, Chrisca, Beth, Candygirl, Jayward, AnnieStar & PP
TFI Friday, was up till gone midnight last night with BIL, he is seeing a counsellor but sometimes he'd rather talk to me, especially when it's about his DD's abuse, the counsellor does all the 'and how does that make you feel', whereas I know his DD & say, 'She's coping brilliantly' & 'She's focusing her anger in the right direction' which he finds comforting.
I'm still feeling very dizzy, but it's probably stress, lol, I have 3 & half days left to do 3 weeks work, I'm going to have to do some unpaid days at work which annoys me as it's not my fault I can't keep up, there really is too much work. I'm also being pressurised about the termly school newsletter, as 1500 copies need to go out today, I haven't got the master copy yet as the head is sitting on it!
No breakfast for me today as we've run out of milk.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester

Well done to miss stefjb, fantastic results :T ,
Good luck to all those still waiting for results, including my friend, who has two dd's waiting, hope they come through soon, luckily my dd has not sat any this year, its next year for her.0 -
Morning all,
finally feeling better & more like myself. Might even manage to go for a gentle swim later.
Smoky, good to hear from you - hope the cold doesn't develop too much & that's annoying of the school - especially when you've categorically asked if they will be open  Middle DD has been off past 2 days due to strike, she is back today & till Weds next week, then she is finished for summer as well. She's desperate to get a p/t job but as she's not even 15 till August no-one wants to know. She's very mature/responsible/polite & such a hard worker - she was told at a (posh) hotel where she did her work experience they would have loved to have her. I thought maybe if she tried some smal cafe's etc, maybe she might have more luck. It's even more frustrating for her as oldest DD has a Saturday job.
Winniepooh, am sorry to hear your bad news re the job, will the liquidators continue to run the company as it is or do you think it will shut?
Stef, that's sort of good news on the job front for you...??
Redruby, my youngest DD's last day at primary school today as well, they have been having Leaver's events/plays all week, so it's quite a festive feel. She's obviously excited - I got up at 6am & as I came out of my room she was on the landing with the curling tongs doing her hair!!!!
Another proud mummy here, she also got 3 5's and a 4 in her SAT's :T :j and well done Miss Stefjb as well (plus anyone else who's DD/DS's have their results). Just waiting for oldest DD's GCSE's in August...
EssexGirl, don't envy you having to deal with the employee today. Just because he deserves it still doesn't make it easier for you to do... Good luck.
Aussie, glad you're ok and also that your sister is recuperating well - even if she won't do as she's told!! (but do any of us....)
Hester, you must have the patience of a saint .... Hope you manage to relax over the weekend & enjoy a glass of wine
Gosh, that was a longer one - I must be feeling better!!!!!Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Morning all
Ive decided to stay abit longer.
Today I shall not be doign much as my father is visiting and so am bound ot be out most of the day.
Have annoyed bf by planning ot go out for a meal tomorrow night with my dad (so there will be my dad, my step mum, me, bf, and our 4 year old ) but apparently i didnt inform him of this when its all ive been on about half the night and then he even asked me if we were having a meal to get out of babysitting for his sister! so hes got a strop on now.
Had a nice surprise this morning too - checked my email account and think someone has made an accident on one of my poll doign sites and has issued me 2 vouchers that I shouldnt have. Now ANSWERS ON A POSTCARD - should i email and be honest?? or should I claim the vouchers?? theres £20 worth there jsut sitting in my email account. Am very tempted since christmas is coming.
Anyway lunch and dinner are sorted for me becuase im out, little one is munching Jam Sandwiches (his breakfast of choice) and I will have to go offline all day at 8 to tidy round my flat quickly before jumping a bus, then train to meet my father
hope everyone is ok, hugs to all who need, well done for them who need, happy birthday to anyone and congratulations to any celebrations that may arise in my absense today!
Sammy
