I had printed one of the money off coupons for the Wright's bread mix and have just tried to use it this morning in my Panasonic BM. Total disaster but I don't know why. It came out as a hard lump! I used the rapid bake setting so not sure if that is the reason. Should I have done it on the normal wholemeal bake? It was a pack of the mixed grain bread mix.
Anyone else had a disaster, and if so do you know what went wrong?
I would like to try again, but need to know what I should change.0 -
I use Wrights bread mix, haven't used that one before though. I always use the same setting as you too.
Things to check:
Make sure you are adding enough water
Make sure the loaf size on the breadmaker is set to the right size, I aways put mine on 900g for a pack of wrights
Have you got a crust colour setting? I like mine light.
ETA: if you ever use a wrights cake mix, I turn my breadmaker off 5 minutes from the end or it goes hard on the outside too. I haven't had this with the bread mixes though0 -
I use the wright mixes quite often and have never had a problem - don't think I've tried the mixed grain on though - it's usually the cheesy ones.
My fast bake takes 2 1/2 hours as opposed to the 3 1/2 standard setting and I put the water in hand hot.

Ive used the wrights bread mix for ages too, mainly the sunflower one but occasionally the mixed grain. I use the basic setting (3 hours) rather than the fast bake and add around an ounce of butter or olive/sunflower oil and never had a problem.0

Got another pack to try and checked the instructions again. Didn't realise that I had a size setting but checked and mine is on the XL size. Should I have altered this?
I used 150ml water - maybe I should have used 300ml water and maybe done it on a wholemeal bake rather than rapid setting?
I usually make the wholemeal or granary sandwich loaf using 14oz flour and this always gives great results.
Any suggestions gratefully received please.0 -
