However, rather than being locked out because the system hasn't recognised a piece of information, it's more likely that you'll have typed it in wrong (I've done that myself). When I phoned to set up access, the guy asked me to spell everything out so there was no misunderstanding on the phone. I agree that not everyone can call up during the day, and I guess that makes the evenings busy, but if I really needed to unlock my account then I'm sure I'd find time even if it was at midnight. You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...:cool:0 -
Just past my local branch massive sign in the window, job for tomorrow lunch time to open the account.
Anyone know how easy it will be to close the account down after I have my £100, how long should I keep the account running???
This £100 is nealy as good as my £100 from Barclays the other, my £350 I made out of Alliance & Leciester on recommend a friend plus the £250 from First Direct. Don't bank with any of these since I got my cash:beer: :beer:0 -
Hi,
I wondered if everyone who applied for this actually "switched" another account to Co-Op to qualify for the £100 or is it sufficient just to pay in the £800 each month until the incentive is paid?
In branch they said it would be necessary to switch, but the form and bumph they've sent doesn't seem to say a switch is compulsory - that I can see anyway - if anyone knows any different please can you post?
Many thx.0 -

It does not say salary funded on the leaflets, just £800 a month funded.
I am just going to pay £800 in each month from my main bank account, then withdraw the £800 a few days later each month.0 -

Well no, I didn't intend it that way, just an indication of first impressions from someone new to the account. Crossed wires I guess, no hard feelings!
It was more frustration on my part at not being able to get through to correct what I could deduce was the error (there is a minimum password length but the operator who took my registration accepted a shorter one.)

I have to say I'm a bit annoyed with the Co-op here. They are generally regarded as very ethical etc. and yet looking at their website it is very difficult to find out that the current account plus gives paltry interest, all it says is that the linked savings a/c gives 4.5% - I regard this as potentially misleading.
In fact I had to come hear to find out that the interest in the actual current a/c plus was nominal.
I was interested at 4.5%, but I can just as easily transfer my money to an instant access a/c giving 6% + as to their linked a/c so don't understand the benefit from here.
A shame, I'd been with smile for many years until they started dropping their interest rate recently (still have a a/c but mostly for cheque book) - I thought I could go back to the Co-op here, but apparently it's not worth my while.
Thanks for the above posts making clear with the Co-Ops bank fails to (unless I'm being blind).

I called in at Bristol Co-Operative branch today and filled in an application form which i left for their perusual.
Ive read posts about rejections, and responses citing the automatic 200.00 overdraft as a possible reason for a tighter credit scoring criterea.
I noticed on the application form it gave the applicant the option of stating how long he/she wanted the overdraft for. I stated 3 months which was the shortest period available.
Do people believe that for the purpose of just getting an application approved for the 100.00 cashback that it would be better to put 3 months, 6 months or 12 months in respect of the overdraft duration required.0 -
....They have refused to pay the £100. Initially saying its only open to new customers. I said I am a new customer. I said I was told twice that I would receive the £100 , they then said they could not trace the tape/person involved. They then said the person that told me was incorrect as it was done via armchair banking (and I now note the chequebook states their Manchester address and not my local area.)
Rang again and they said they would ask their marketing department to make an exception in my case, they have not replied. I have written pointing out that by stating twice I would receive the £100 they have in fact made a contract and if they don't honour it I will take it up with the Financial Ombusman.0
