Just a little bit higher up the page from where you got yours from...

http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/current-accounts/premier-100-switching.aspx?ct=100switchingThe ambiguity though, lies in the use of the word "other". This could mean "different", "instead of", "or", etc.

As I posted on another forum, the options seem to be...

    A possible £150

    A guaranteed £100

A likely £50 (if you go through Quidco)

Nothing...if Quidco doesn't track/pay out and A&L refuse because you went through Quidco.

By the time I'd posted I'd already applied and gone through a cashback site! (TopCashback not Quidco)

I'll just have to wait and see what happens, but to be honest if they don't give me the 100 quid I shall close the account. I don't think the T&Cs for the offer are clear cut enough for them to warrant withholding the incentive.

    Time will tell!

    Regards

I think I agree, especially when you read the T&C's for the (very) old refer-a-friend via paper voucher scheme...
New customers must be 21 or over and must open a Premier or Premier Direct Current Account by visiting a branch, by visiting www.alliance-leicester.co.uk or by calling 0800 015 8405. Applications from any other source are not eligible for this offer
    Time will tell!
    Good luck!

As we all favour recycling, :) , £500 need not mean £500 in the sense that:
You can actually depost £250 to your A&L (and can do this by the way at the post office which is most convenient) then go round the corn to a cash machine and withdraw the £250 and then put it in again. Or you can do this five times with £100, depending on how tight your cashflow is.

They state "This offer is open to customers who we accept for a Premier Current Account opened through www.alliance-leicester.co.uk" - If you go through quidco you still open the account through
https://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk - you didn't open the account through quidco - that's my interpretation of it.

Ooo look at that how annoying of A&L

    - Get 100 quid for switching when you apply ONLINE
    - Get the 12% Regular Saver to go with the account at the same time as you open a Premier Current Account at your local branch

One but not both, it seems... Blast!

What if you have an account at Abby that you want to keep and you open an account at A&L? What happens when Santander merges the two as was recently announced?

They're still two totally separate banks at the moment, so no problem with switching the Abbey account to A&L. Come October, assuming the deal goes through, you'll just end up with 2 Abbey accounts. There's no restriction on having more than one account with Abbey, so would be fine.

How can they insist you close your current a/c?-how would they know anyway?

3 options come up at the end of the application process:
    1. Use their free SO/DD transfer service. You must do this to get the £100.
    2. Transfer your salary. It doesn't say you must do this but you must fund monthly with £500 from somewhere. Mine will go in instantly from Barclays and straight back out again (to Barclays to fund my SOs out from that account set up for the end of the month). I didn't opt.
    3. Close you old account. I opted for this as I have 2 Nationwide Flex accounts from an old £100 deal and I was fed up with seeing 2 and picking the right one on the card reader. I set up a £1 SO on this account so they had an SO to transfer under 1. (I put £5 in it on the assumption this gets transferred on closure. Edit: it does, just checked T&Cs).

No need to close account from which switched according to my reading of:

"Switch from your existing bank with our Premier Switching Service. We will take care of switching all your standing orders, direct debits and your salary to your new account. We can even close your old bank account and arrange for your balance to be transferred. "

It doesn't say they will, only that they capable of doing this. I shall be closing an Abbey account (hurray!) but I need it to be open in order to access other Abbey accounts online until they mature.

(For some people the old account would need to remain open in order to receive once-a-year payments like interest from savings accounts. Those aren't covered by salary, SO or DD arrangements.)
