How are A&L's customer service at the moment then? Does it matter that I had one of these accounts a few years back? Or will that mean I wont be eligible for this new offer?

I've read heaps of threads recently about their bad customer service. When I was applying for their credit card, I found their automated phone menu to be horrific. But, that's all the experience I have so far.
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

Where did you copy + paste this T&C from?
Just a little bit higher up the page from where you got yours from...

    http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/current-accounts/premier-100-switching.aspx?ct=100switching
But it doesn't specifically state you cannot combine incentives
The ambiguity though, lies in the use of the word "other". This could mean "different", "instead of", "or", etc.

As I posted on another forum, the options seem to be...

    A possible £150

    A guaranteed £100

A likely £50 (if you go through Quidco)

Nothing...if Quidco doesn't track/pay out and A&L refuse because you went through Quidco.

As long as you haven't held a current account with them in the last 3 months you will be eligible.

Sweet! :) My next question about A&L: Do you have to transfer your salary and/or DD's?

Yes. Part of the conditions are that you have to use their free switching service, which means they will transfer all your standing orders and direct debits and your salary to your new A+L account, and then you must have your old account closed.

    I don't think that's the case...
You must pay in the first £500 within 11 weeks of opening the account, whether or not your salary or income is to be transferred using the Premier Switching Service

    http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/current-accounts/premier-100-switching.aspx?ct=100switching
That seems to imply that it's not necessary to switch your salary.

You will, however, have to switch DD's/SO's.

Just a thought on the incentives available...

The refer-a-friend scheme still appears to be running (£50 to share). Whilst going through Quidco might be considered a gamble, I can't see any problem with going through the RAF method.

After all, existing customers are bringing in new customers. If A&L want to pay the new customer £100 that's an entirely different matter...isn't it?

My mistake, you don't have to switch your salary, but I figure that I'll forget the compulsory £500 credit each month if I don't switch my salary :D

Also I figure that if you have to close your old account, then you will have to transfer your salary anyway, unless you have a third current account.

    Gambit,

I may have been a little quick off the mark with my earlier "3 months" comment. That's certainly how it used to be for the refer-a-friend scheme.

However, on checking the offer T&C's, and the initial application pages, it looks like the only condition is you must not currently have a current account with them.

You'd have to pay me a lot of money to go back to A&L - £100 is nothing compared to all the messing around one has to do when dealing with them!

Dont worry too much about the "You have to transfer all you direct debits" bit-they dont know what DDs you have, use a "Sleeper" currents account (i have several) and quote that. If you havent got a "Sleeper" current account recommend NationwideFlexaccount-great for holiday money as well! then as soon as you have £100, close the a/c wait 3 months, and then see what they are offering.!

I have just applied online and been accepted but I went via quidco to get the extra £50. I agreed for them to take over my direct debits also. As I went through quidco will I get the £100 from A&L. I have checked quidco and its tracking at £0.00. I didn't think you had to close the current account you are transferring from as I have said I don't want to do this, will this be a problem as I would rather cancel asap before they take over my account.
