Hmmm, I wonder when A&L will be in a position to give indications of what might happen to these deals. It could end up getting very expensive if they decide to add a regular O/D rate (usually well above 12%) after a year. Need to decide on whether to pay off some of the current O/D I have with them, or to keep trying to pay off a Sonycard 0% that finishes in April.
Checked my credit rating, which is fair, and given I'll be moving house next week even if I add myself to the electoral roll (currently not on it) I can't see it going much better than that any time soon, so my options in January might not be great!0 -
this is probably a stupid question but hey ho..someones gotta ask them! hee hee!
am interested in switching to this account and understand i have to use the switching service to switch DD's - so that will be phone bill and pension for me - so i take it that is sorted automatically by A & L so dont need to worry about contacting these companies and payments will automatically come out next month? also what about salary which is paid into account? do i have to just notify my employer or is this automatiacally switched too?
thanks guys!

I believe that all the DDs will be transferred automatically, so you don't have to do anything, except that if you can, you have enough money in both accounts during the switching period as a safeguard.
They send you an "income transfer form" which you fill in and send to your employer. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -
brilliant, thanks for the reply. was just concerned that if i applied for an account now something might happen with my salary money due to go in at the end of the month - but i guess if i keep my old account open anyway then it wont really matter. thank you x0

Was planning on switching to the A&L account but am now a little confused by what some of you have been told regarding the £500 per month deposit. I would be paying £1000 a month standing order from Halifax acc not my salary so am now concerned that I will not qualify for the £100 incentive. Anyone any more ideas on this one?
Plus there is still a bit of confusion about the cashback via Quidco and whether it affects the £100 incentive....any ideas on this too?

I think it's been said earlier in the thread, but it's worth saying again.
This...You must pay in the first £500 within 11 weeks of opening the account, whether or not your salary or income is to be transferred using the Premier Switching Service.
This...Other account opening incentives may be available, if you apply in a different way than through www.alliance-leicester.co.uk.

I switched a few months ago - i was instantly caught out by the 'you must be in credit for 3 days', as all my direct debits came out on the 1st of the month, i never had a plus amount. I phoned up explained this and to there credit instantly solved this problem. Apart from that minor point its been very smooth and certainly better than Barclays.
I have persuaded the wife to switch now to get the £100 cashback and £25x2 recommend a friend.
A&L have my recommendation.Started Comping in August 2014

if you switch an account which has a very low balance and no SO/DDs on it, what will happen? technically you're still switching?0

"You must pay in the first £500 within 11 weeks of opening the account, whether or not your salary or income is to be transferred using the Premier Switching Service."
This is strange wording....is it not just meaning that you can/cannot use the switching service to transfer your salary??
Think I will ring them tomorrow to see if salary has to be transferred as people have been told different things.0
