As our return flight is from Newark, we will probably spend our last night back in New York,

Why? It's easier to get to EWR from New Jersey:question:

I sort of agree with this -however it isn't difficult to get back to Newark either so if the flight is late in the day ........I'd be hitting NYC rather than hanging in Jersey too. Stay in NYC leave the bags with the bell when checking out-then go do stuff in the city , return to hotel, collect bags and hop on the shuttle or the AirTrain (Airtrain for choice as it avoids the traffic although the shuttle actually isn't too bad when I've usedit)) to Newark.

The other side of this is that Newark hotels are really reasonable and you could Priceline something like Hilton at Elizabeth for a lot less and have the choice of the shopping in Elizabeth OR shopping in NYC using the Airtrain- again check out early leave your bags with the bell if your airport check in isn't open that early -and go off and do stuff before heading back to the airport.

    DMG24, Blindman and Duchy

Thank you so much all of you for those detailed responses. Hope the jetlag is gone soon DMG24. Your ramblings do make sense.

This Priceline thing does take a bit of working out, so will be referring to your posts a lot. I have read Blindmans guide, and think I have got the gist of it. Time will tell!! Just a little nervous of the fact that the acceptance of the bid is final, but think we are willing to take the risk. I guess the art of getting a good deal is minimising (or excluding altogether) the risk of getting a hotel you don't want.

Duchy is correct, we have an evening flight from EWR, so will leave bags at hotel and spend the last day in NYC before heading to airport. At the moment the plan is to take the Greyhound Bus from NYC to Boston and back. Although DMG24 has put the idea of flying from Boston to EWR in my head, so thanks, that's another option to check out.

Lucky I quite enjoy the planning stage isn't it! The trouble is there are just so many options.

Should I leave it till nearer the time of our holiday before attempting to book? Not sure how long my nerves will hold out.

Will let you know how I get on.

    Thanks again

How far ahead can you use this hotel loophole? Are we talking only a few weeks before you intend to travel or several months?

    From the Priceline web-site
Reservations can only be made 330 days in advance.

Once your plans are FIXED ('plane tickets bought etc) then you can bid.

Varies as to when you get the best bargains ;)

As you have plenty of time;)

Look at the bidding histories of various areas and see what might suit you (Price, location, likely hotels-ones to avoid!)

If you have booked the flights then you can start now with the lowest bid you think will win.

Keep an eye on the forums for any low wins for YOUR DATES.

As I say in my guide good research yields good results!

    Hi.

Im slightly new to this.. i basically have booked two rooms in the uk for the upcoming months and have gotten pretty good deals.

I am thinking there must be some sort of catch.. i have 2 accepted requests for two different dates.. when i click the itinery number, which has a tick next to it, it says, "sorry, the page you have requested cannot be found". I have luckly printed out both itenerys but i find it odd that i cant see them BOTH when i made the bookings days between each other?

Have priceline taken my money and ran?

shall i check with the hotel, as really, i got pretty good deals and cant really afford the prices they are asking for now.

    Please help.

Don't worry, I get this for all my bookings! If you click on the link in your 'win' email, you should be able to get to the right page.
    Gone ... or have I?

If you can post your win details on this thread then others can learn of your great win and hopefully follow suit.

Hi. I have posted them on the other thread. I emailed Priceline and they were very helpful..they basically reset my profile and everything started to work again.

    One quick question.
I may want to use this next year for an annual trip i do to ieper, belgium. This is not listed in the uk priceline.. is there any way i can type in the city myself?
