Just a warning about my booking which I reported below. I have been in touch with the Hotel directly to try and get a non-smoking room, first of all by email a month ago, which was never replied to, and then by phone this morning.

The hotel has absolutely no record of my reservation, or any other reservation for those dates made through Priceline.

They cannot do anything and it's up to Priceline to sort it out. Their Customer Relations person is on the case, but it could take up to 2 business days for them to get back to me.

I am very worried - we're going on Thursday (my birthday!) and I know for a fact that the hotel in question doesn't even have any rooms available now for one of the nights we were meant to be there.

    • How many extra daily bids did you have available: I only bid once!
    • How much were your 2nd/3rd etc & final bids: Started at £35 and to my surprise this was accepted immediately!
    • And then write your Priceline hotel booking story I didn't do much research into this one - I just felt like having a bit of a play to see what I could get between meetings at work! To my shock, my first bid of £35 was accepted for a 3 night stay for 2 people in Brussels around Valentine's day. The hotel we have been allocated is the NH Atlanta Brussels which wouldn't exactly have been my first choice, but with a total price for 3 nights of £120 incl. taxes, it is a LOT cheaper than ANYTHING else we were even considering on hotel comparison websites (we were expecting to pay around £200 for the 3 nights in a 4* hotel, even including any special offers we could get).

The good news is at least you've found out before you get there.

It is up to PL to chase the booking and if I were you I'd be on their case every day.

If the hotel is full then either PL have to give you a full refund (probably not what you want) or move you to another 4*.

Let us know how it goes.

    Good luck.

Thanks blindman. I followed up my call with an email to priceline customer services and it's been acknowledged, but they're still saying 2 business days to sort out. I've told them that if they can't get me in the original hotel, I'd like to be upgraded to a 5* at their expense by way of compensation for the hassle and cost of international calls to the hotel I made trying to sort this out. I'll let you know if there is a satisfactory outcome to all of this.

Really upset after spending most of this afternoon on the phone to various "customer service" agents from Priceline, all of whom (and there were a lot!) only had English as a second language.

Basically, despite me raising my complaint with them last week, they still can't tell me if I have a valid booking with the hotel in question, as they did absolutely naff all about investigating this for me in the period between now and my initial phone call to them. They will only call the hotel for me while I am on the phone and so far this afternoon, the hotel has not been answering

And they won't let me cancel my booking, which I have already paid for and which may or may not actually even be valid.

I am absolutely fuming mad, I just want to book the deal I've found on Expedia (which is non-refundable) but I don't know what to do as Priceline have left me completely paralysed with nowhere to turn.

It's my birthday on Thursday, this was meant to be a special trip away. :(

I'm really sorry to hear that.

My only advice to you is to

1 Ring again  and insist on speaking to a supervisor.

2 Go to the Hotel and if they refuse you a room then ring PL from there and get them to talk to each other.

I sort of had this problem when I booked a room at Reading. The hotel wanted to charge me the full room rate despite me having the booking reference etc.

I rang PL from the hotel counter and handed them the 'phone.

At least you can turn up expecting trouble-I found out when I checked in...

    Good luck

Thanks Blindman. I have been absolutely disgusted at Priceline's customer service - the Americanisms of "Well I do hope you are having a nice day" etc are really starting to grate now as their CS assistants read from a script like flipping robots.

I have made a royal pain of myself all evening and it's got me nowhere.

I really don't need the hassle when I arrive in Brussels - it's my bloody birthday for a start and we are getting in quite late and I just don't want the grief.

I would be a lot less worried if I didn't know that the hotel was already fully booked for one of the nights we will be there, otherwise I am sure I could have persuaded them to give us a room anyway and sort it out with Priceline later.

As it is, it looks like we might get bumped to another hotel either at the start, or worse, in the middle of our break.
  • Have you tried Priceline on the number on this site

Might be worth leaving it to 1pm UK time to speak to someone in person in the US

    Hi
Have a couple of successes to report and 1 okay to report, but would like some help on something else afterwards if thats okay.

Success 1, managed to get the Marriott West India Quay in May for £67 a night (inc fees), absolutely thrilled with that is a 5* that is cheaper than the B&B I usually book and right by the 02 am taking DD to see Black Eyed Peas.

Mediocre 2, this was due to impatience, put 3 bids in for a 4* for April eventually got the Tara Copthorne for £87 (fees on top so over £100) has not very flattering reviews, and is for my sisters borthday so quite disappointed.

Success 3 Pullman Paris Rive Gauche 1st bid £80 a noght accepted, £266 in total with fees, booked for sister for a surprise for her partners 30th, she was well chuffed as booking direct was around £650.

Just wondering if anyone could help with the next bit, taxi from Charles de Gaulle to that hotel is 50 euros, she is on a tight budget and is looking at the train from airport to hotel area. Have tried researching myself but can anyone help with what train she would need to catch from the airport as I am not sure. Thanks in advance
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.
